Friend recommended it … however I sadly would not
… the chicken swam in tasteless sauce and had to order a steak knife to cut the apple tart … and as for the croutons desert called “Financier “ neither a right investment for 4 croutons .
I am not mentioning the cheap Beaujolais wine marked up to a questionable level .
The physical place is otherwise charming …

I have been to Chez Nous 3 times. The setting is beautiful. The menu is solid. This has all the makings of a great neighborhood restaurant. But I am BEGGING the management to please get the service straightened out. And when I say “straightened out” I mean “get some.” No one is working there. I finally walked out after waiting 20 minutes for someone to come to the table which included asking a bus boy to please send a waiter 10 minutes into it. This is similar to my other visits. PLEASE get it worked out. The neighborhood wants you to be successful!

I had the honor and pleasure to be served by Emiliano who truly made my experience here so wonderful. I had simply come by for a glass of wine to accompany some work that I needed to complete. I was swiftly greeted and sat by the hostess in a truly cozy corner of the place. Emiliano had suggested a simple, yet delicious glass of Cava––a white wine with Spanish-origin. He gave fantastic suggestions and was able to assist me in coming to that final decision. My wine was delivered and I proceeded to complete work at such a lovely establishment all-the-while being made to feel at home and in the presence of such warm company. I highly recommend this location and props to Emiliano for being such a fantastic server. All the best to everyone here!

Really sad to say
A big downgrade with the new menu; cocktails are uninspiring and boring, the rest of the menu feel unapproachable. What you get is subpar and not worth the money.
I used to like this place a lot. Won't be coming back unless there's another overhaul
Outstanding food in an intimate and quiet setting - perfect restaurant when you actually want to hear your dinner guests (even when full).

We had dinner at Chez Nous this past weekend and loved everything about it. Every appetizer, entree, and dessert was delicious, with the perfect balance of flavors in every bite (the bread with whipped lemon butter, tomato medley, gazpacho, carrots trois façons, artichoke with vinaigrette, loup de mer (branzino), the vegetarian, tagine, vanilla cherry ice cream with luxardo cherry sauce, and financiers (cookies with chocolate dipping sauce). The restaurant is beautiful and cozy, and has the most comfortable seating and perfect ambient lighting. It’s a true gem in the neighborhood.

Stumbled upon this restaurant within the Marlton hotel.
From the moment you get inside, there is a gloomy, dreary, depressive atmosphere in the whole restaurant. There is a bright mural which should add some cheer to it, unsuccessfully unfortunately.
The menu is sub par, nothing outstanding. My friend had an issue with his dish and asked for a manager, it took a while until some asian girl showed up who we thought was a hostess at first. She looked and sounded like she couldn't care less, obviously she didn't want to be there, well most of the staff who interacted with us for that matter. First and last one for us.

My recent visit to Chez Nou at The Marlton Hotel was a truly lovely experience, with just one small point for improvement. We came in during the shift change, and the transition was seamless, thanks to our wonderful server, Ixehuatl. The hospitality was fantastic from the moment we sat down.
Ixehuatl provided excellent customer service, making us feel welcomed and well-cared for throughout the meal. The food was absolutely on point. We started with a half dozen oysters that were simply amazing, and the cheese plate was a perfect follow-up. Everything was delicious and a testament to the kitchen's quality.
The only area that could have been better was the bottle service. We ordered a bottle of Conquilla Cava, but it was served at room temperature. After he poured the glasses, the server didn't check back to see if we were happy with the bottle. This simple check-in could have easily resolved the issue and made the experience flawless.
Despite this small lapse, our overall evening was great. The food, the ambiance, and especially Ixehuatl's service made it a memorable night. I would definitely recommend Chez Nou and look forward to returning.

Please let me preface this rather extreme review by sharing that I typically do not leave negative reviews, as I understand the impact it has on a business. I grew up with a father who was a restauranteur, so I make every effort to be kind and engaging with staff to ensure they enjoy their experience with me as a guest they are serving, and to build a relationship for future visits.
As someone who fine dines multiple times a week, and a former fan of Margeaux that previously lived at this location, I had high hopes for Chez Nous. Beautiful design aesthetic aside, the experience was quite honestly the worst I have had at any restaurant in NYC, with 0 exaggeration.
Upon arrival the hostess at the front told me my guests had arrived, and advised me to walk to the back to find them… there was no queue at her station, so I would have expected her to escort me to the unknown
location at which my guests were seated.
2 of the 3 first round of cocktails were not made as described on their menu, but were easily returned and redeemed by a wonderful red wine suggestion from the server.
Our appetizers arrived and the cheese platter really was a joke. Even the serving staff laughed when we provided feedback on the dish, indicating they agreed at how ridiculous it was, that they have received the feedback countless times, and even went as far as to share that “the presentation is actually a recent upgrade”. Our request for additional jam to compliment the cheese was confirmed but then never arrived. $38 for literally 5 slices of cheese (not 5 TYPES), even for a guest who has the financial means to purchase the entire hotel if they desired, was truly insulting.
The entrees arrived and my guest bit into a large piece of plastic in her food. The response by the manager was anything but empathetic, with no introduction and not so much as a reassuring smile. She offered us free dessert as a remedy for the consecutively poor courses, which I declined in fear of consuming plastic.
This was the first time in 16 years of living in NYC that I did not eat my entree and actually called a nearby restaurant from the dinner table to make a reservation within the hour, then prematurely left Chez Nous.
The icing on the cake was a male server thinking it was appropriate to offer his phone number to my female guest to “take care of her” when she privately advised him that we still intended to offer considerable gratuity to the servers for trying to make the situation as best as they could within their respective roles.
My overall sense is this new restaurant opened earlier than it should have before working through the menu, did not hire a consistently high caliber of staff to meet the expectations of fine dining, and did not find their rhythm to ensure they are delivering an experience to be proud of. This visit left much to be desired and I’m hoping if I revisit in the future, they will have worked through these opportunities.

Limited lunch menu but food is really good. The new manager with a mustache (forgot his name) is very nice and attentive, checking every table and staff.
I will be back for sure

The pink velvet makeover is suffocating
- including loss of the skylights in the back. The new chef has ruined the formerly outstanding hamburger and fries. The fries are now tasteless sticks, the brioche bun is soggy and meat dull and over cooked. Morning coffee embarrassingly weak.

The food and drinks were enjoyable, but the customer service could use some improvement. A more welcoming approach would greatly enhance the overall experience. There are many choices in NYC, and a warm atmosphere can make a big difference in attracting customers.
