Our “CREW” group had a fantastic dinner and the service was spot on.
From the signature cocktails to every dish brought to the table every bite was outstanding.
We will return.
Lychee martinis and Chungking fish are too good! Great service.
Amazing food. Really loved the appetizers, but small quantity. I would recommend the dan dan doodles and pork dumplings in chili oil. Fish blossom for main course.
So good. smoky whisky here is one of the best cocktails of my life. great vegetarian options. great meat and fish, i have also heard. great service. food fantastic and even better the next day left over. wow
I live in Manhattan and have a lot choices for restaurants. This place is so good! If I find myself in midtown it’s a must! Great bartender and staff as well!
Disappointing experience at Chili NYC. Unfortunately, the food quality has taken a nosedive after the ownership change. The dishes I ordered didn't meet my expectations, and the taste was off. Hopefully, they'll revisit their recipes and service to regain their former glory. Until then, I'd recommend exploring other options
CHILI Chinese Restaurant – Midtown Manhattan, NYC
👍👍👍👍👍
Located at 13 East 37th Street in Midtown Manhattan, CHILI Chinese Restaurant specializes in authentic Sichuan cuisine, bringing bold spices and deep flavors to New York’s diverse dining scene. With a stylish yet minimal interior, this spot is ideal for spice lovers seeking a true Chinese culinary experience.
FOOD QUALITY 👍
We ordered Ma Po Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice with Preserved Vegetables, and White Rice. All dishes were flavorful and spicy, with authentic Sichuan heat and strong savory notes. The Ma Po Tofu was a highlight—bold, rich, and perfectly balanced.
SERVICE & HOSPITALITY 👍
Service was smooth and efficient. Our server, Pinnan C, ensured everything came out hot and in good order. Attentive staff with polite engagement.
VALUE FOR MONEY 👍
At $62.07 total for two, the price reflects the quality and authenticity of the meal. Considering the portion sizes and Midtown location, it was fairly priced.
AMBIENCE & CLEANLINESS 👍
Modern, clean, and intimate setting with a cozy atmosphere. A great spot for small group dinners or date night.
LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY 👍
Centrally located between Fifth and Madison Ave, it’s an easy walk from Grand Central or Bryant Park.
Chili is a refined take to a no-frills Sichuan Chinese restaurant. I think they are a well-oiled machine as every dish was delivered with great consistency & speed. The ambiance is alright but the food is remarkably delicious.
Fantastic, supplanted the previous favorite for Chongqing (La-Zi) chicken.

Just got engaged and had no idea where to celebrate dinner, searched on google “Best Restaurants in Midtown NYC” and stumbled upon a Reddit thread where CHILI had a significant amount of upvotes. We aren’t from the city so we tend to trust the opinions of locals when it comes to this stuff and boy were we thrilled.
No reservation, had about a 20 minute wait but grabbed a quick drink and got right in after.
From the moment we were seated we could tell this place had an infectious buzz of good times and great food, but honestly the service was the star of the show. Each member of staff we interacted with had such a high level of professionalism, cheery demeanor, and appreciation for our patronage.
Mung bean jelly noodles, Smoked Tea Duck, Five Spiced beef, Sichuan green beans, and Sweet and Sour baby ribs all hit the table and were quickly devoured, savoring each bite until our bellies were stuffed.
Thank you CHILI team for adding such an incredible experience to the best day of our lives. So glad we got to experience you!

My best friend and I came to have our meet up here and wow. We ordered the Kung Pao shrimp with fried rice and a side of the cucumber salad. Everything was perfect!! The serving was large enough to split between the both of us. When I visit back home, I will definitely go there again.

One and done. Wait staff completely forgot two out of four people’s orders and rest of the place was so uninvolved that no one noticed. I brought it to their attention and they brought out a messed up order. Bean soup was awful and one of the vegetarian meals that was supposed to have been toned down spice wise wasn’t. Fish dish had some pieces not quite cooked through. Ugh. Scallion pancakes were good out incredibly greasy. Two desserts we say we didn’t want but got anyway to make up for dinner disaster, weren’t nearly enough of an “I’m sorry we totally screwed up your dinner.” I’ve never NOT given a tip but did so this time. Teenager at the front desk (lol) too busy on her phone and dancing around to be of any use. Wait staff uninvolved. And the place wasn’t overly busy so no excuses. I wouldn’t go there ever or even order from there.
Sunday, December 8 around 4:30pm or so.
