The outside was sketchy but the inside was 5 star and the food was some of the best I've ever eaten. Easily the best service and setting I experienced in all of my time in New York!

The restaurant was so cute inside. Very comfortable and spacious. The waiter was very kind and encouraged us to have fun. A manager brought us over to the downstairs club towards the end of the night where my friends and I enjoyed some tequila lemon drop shots. The shots were literally the size of a cocktail. The food was quite tasty. The pork dumplings and shrimp wontons were scrumptious and the lobster toast was the highlight of the entire menu!

I went here during my week stay in NY and was amazed. I have eaten Chinese food all over the US and you get the standard stuff with varying taste differences. This was like nothing I have ever had, each dish was different than anything I have ever had, and tasted amazing. I especially liked the steak and amazing sauce, burrata, shrimp wontons, lobster toast. And the drinks were great but I can't recall the name, after too much fun.

Very rich and varied food. High quality Chinese food, good atmosphere and correct service. The rice with mushrooms was incredible, also the oxtail bao highly recommended. You have to reserve and the price is not cheap.

I used to LOVE this place… until today. In an almost empty restaurant I made a 5:45pm reservation on Resy with all time spots wide open. When going down the stairs, the host wanted to put me and my friend on the worst table. When I asked to sit in one of the empty booths - 80% were empty - the host said they are reserved for larger parties. I understand that - but why not give us a booth when the place is empty instead of a table that needs to come with Prozac. When I told him “I don’t like the table” and asked him why I can’t have a booth in an almost empty restaurant he started to repeat himself… when I said “fine, then I won’t eat here”, he asked “so where are you going to eat?” I said “not here”. As ridiculous it is to write this review, I think it is necessary. I eat out 80% of the year. I love good restaurants with the attitude matching their food. Unfortunately, not the case at Chinese Tuxedo - anymore. I feel a restaurant should be welcoming and work hard to making each visit an amazing experience. Who needs a snappy, arrogant guy at 5:45pm on a Sunday in an almost empty restaurant.

Everything we ordered was fantastic! Bartenders really care about making a great cocktail too. Atmosphere is great-even getting bc there walking through the windy back streets with lights and lanterns adds to the experience. Great service. A must go to!

We went for dinner. I did like dumplings and my friend liked fried rice meal. Other meals were either too salty or too oily or very deep fried. Our waitress was amazing though. I don’t think I’ll come here again.

02/20/2024In my opinion this place deserves only two stars because its interior design is warm and the staff is attentive and friendly. If we talk about the food: it is TERRIBLE. The amount of oil in all the dishes we ate here was unpleasant. We ordered the strange-tasting burrata as a starter, the strange flavor is a single flavor: burrata with spicy sauce. The crispy eggplant and vegetarian fried rice were dripping with oil. What I saw of the eggplant was minimal, it was covered with 3cm of fried breading. I think about this dish and it makes me nauseous. It is obvious that the food is delicious because eating oil deceives the palate, but your stomach is going to pass on the debt of having eaten here.I really hope they improve the quality of the food.

Not ideal for families with young children: This restaurant leans towards bold flavors and a lively atmosphere, which might not suit younger palates or preferences. Consider spicier and saltier dishes, along with potentially lengthy waits between courses and loud music. The menu may also cater more to those unfamiliar with traditional Chinese cuisine. For a family-friendly option: Explore other NYC Chinese restaurants offering milder flavors, quicker service, and more kid-friendly settings.Kid-friendliness: not kid friendly.
