I visited the Chipotle at 274 Madison Avenue in NYC yesterday around 1:30pm, and I want to highlight an excellent experience. I worked for Chipotle during my college years for four years strictly as a crew member but my store earned Restaurateur status during my first year, so I understand what true Chipotle standards look like.
Because of that background, Chipotle has always represented quality to me. But in recent years, I’ve noticed the standards slipping, and I actually stopped eating Chipotle for about two months after some disappointing visits in others Locations.
Yesterday, I walked past the Madison Avenue location and decided to give it another chance and I’m glad I did. The first impression was outstanding. The restaurant was spotless, fully stocked with napkins and utensils, and the line looked organized and extremely fresh. The food pans were clean, and nothing looked old or over-held.
Food quality was great as well. The steak was perfectly cut ideal bite-size pieces and cooked just right. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference in the bowl experience.
From a hospitality standpoint, they nailed it. The tortilla person welcomed me with a genuine smile and asked what I wanted, and the cashier was incredibly friendly almost like I’d known them before. That kind of authentic engagement is rare, and it stands out.
This is the level of quality, freshness, and hospitality every Chipotle should deliver. The Madison Avenue crew earned me back as a customer.

Great tacos, nice service crew!
I ate here for years when I worked next door, but one bad case of food poisoning from this Chipotle ruined my health. I tested positive for Enteroaggregative E. coli, which led to pelvic floor dysfunction, ongoing gut and bladder issues, and now I’m being treated at NewYork Presbyterian for Small intestinal bacteria overgrowth (SIBO). The food tastes fine, but I don’t trust how clean this kitchen is. Be careful eating here and if you ever get food poisoning, take it seriously.

Interesting that your ordering system is always down conveniently during off hours
This was such a horrible experience at chipotle and the male pm supervisor there is so disrespectful. I had accidentally ordered at the wrong location and instead of helping me with the order, he told me that I needed to figure it out and go to that location, and there was nothing he could do for me. This happened on 7/25/2025 at 6:29 pm. The supervisor there was so horrible and made the experience so negative. I’m a supervisor myself and to see that kind of behavior was just appalling. What a terrible example to set for the rest of the crew / crew members and what a terrible representative to have in your company and store. Shame.

Even though the bowl wasn't the best option for me, Jessy was so professional, dedicated and efficient, she really did her best to serve our group of lost tourists and our specific needs. The manager also handled our situation calmly. I’m just going to leave an advice to instruct the other workers about the ingredients of the food, because they weren't fully aware, I mean, who puts jallepenos on rice?? Sooo spicyy! As a Brazilian, I just wanted some rice and beans, bro 😭 anyway, they have to know what's going on the food, or it could be a really dangerous and medical situation for someone with allergies. Gladly we avoided that.

As an avid Chipotle goer, I would steer away from this specific location at 274 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10016. They have never prepared one single online order correctly and make the customers go through a difficult process to get it corrected. You will save countless headaches and time by going to a different location or any better restaurants nearby. Our office used to order 2-3x/week but will be taking a long break due to the incompetency of management at this location.
