The food was very bland & not tasteful, service was subpar and didn’t feel we received the quality or price of what was served, servers took a long time to ask us for our order and give check even though the restaurant was empty

I chose Chocolat Restaurant and Bar to introduce my cousin visiting from Savannah, Georgia, to a taste of northern hospitality while offering a familiar feel of Southern cuisine. The food was fantastic, and the overall ambiance was warm and welcoming.

Our server and the matron d host were exceptional — providing attentive and friendly service that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. However, I did have a small issue when I asked if we could move to a side booth. The manager on duty at the time responded curtly with, “What’s the problem?” rather than offering a more helpful response. While I appreciated the explanation about limited seating availability, the delivery could have been more pleasant.

Despite this, my out-of-town relatives still had a wonderful time, enjoying the meal, the lively atmosphere, and the opportunity to visit nearby street fairs in Harlem. All in all, it was a positive experience and I would still recommend it.

Our bartender was very nice accommodating and made a mean margarita!
The best part of our food menu was the cheese grits. They were smothered with cheese as if it were a French Onion soup bowl arriving at our table. The best part aside from the OoeyGooey cheese top was the texture of the grits; they were thick (not thin and soupy) and well seasoned
A definite winner in my book

The biscuits of the friend chicken sandwich dish were delicious (chicken ok and the sauce was a bit on the sweet side and was too heavily douched over the chicken IMO.

The decor was surprisingly underwhelming; it more emulated a diner than what I guess I expected with such a decadent name like Chocolat and being a spot in the Harlem scene…there was no fanfare or opulence to experience.

Had an amazing experience at brunch. Went with no reservations and was able to be seated immediately. I enjoyed the unlimited mimosas. Everything was delicious, the ribs, the chicken and waffles. The cornbread was moist. The waitress didn’t give any recommendations however she was very polite and made sure our drinks stayed filled. I will definitely be returning.

The brunch was really good and the portions are perfect. We left very full and satisfied with the food. I have been going here for years and stopped a while back because of issues with the hostess. Once again I experienced the same treatment. I had a birthday reservation for 5 people and after waiting about 10 minutes after our reservation time I politely ask the hostess if we could be seated as my final guest was stuck on GW bridge due to an accident and is running late but definitely coming. I was told no twice and finally asked a 3rd time to just seat us at a table for 4 because she made it very clear she could not seat us until everyone was there. Fine, at this point we are tired of debating and hungry. I assumed since we had a reservation and I could clearly see a table for 6 open I found it ridiculous that she would not just let us sit down at the larger table. Once we sat my final guest did arrive and we had to squeeze at a small table. I just felt this entire ordeal was unnecessary especially once I explained the circumstances and had a reservation. I never understand why restaurants give guests such a hard time for such minor details. The place was not even crowded and the table Im sure was left open because you were holding for my reservation. Harlem has lots of options and there is no need to debate or argue with an hostess. Please learn to choose your battles wisely. PS our bill was over $500.

The fried chicken, greens & Mac & Cheese were Devine. Chicken cooked to crispy perfection and served while still hot. Red Velvet cake was also very good. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back.

The service was extremely poor the waiter never wrote down our order, he did it by memory, as a result the items I order to go were not as they should have been. And one I never got. I order collard greens and kale to go and I never received it. The worse of the worse was the oxtails. The oxtails were sold at $42 for 3 pieces of oxtail. Unfortunately, these orders were to go so I didn't see it until I arrived home. I will return tomorrow to return it. I will NOT pay $42 for three oxtails. Now on to the chicken. I also ordered fried chicken to go, which the chicken was good, however I don't know what pieces I got. The only one I knew was the wing. What happens to legs and thighs. Why did I get the breast cut up and make people think they have multiple pieces of chicken. The only recognizable pieces were the wings. Next I order a cosmopolitan which was awesome. And I wanted to a order another. But, the waiter was no where to be found. You must get a professional to your wait staff. And on busy days hire additional staff if needed. You have a beautiful restaurant, the food isn't bad, but $42 for three oxtails is unbelievable. Please do better. As a black women living in Harlem for over 70 years I like to support my people. Your restaurant is making it very hard to do that. Listen to your costumers. In all of yours reviews your costumers complain about poor services, now I understand why. I will never buy take out food again, I spent almost $300 at your restaurant and was disappointed. The collard greens and kale I never got. Thank you.
PS. I hope you see this review and respond
And the food is overpriced
Your restaurant should not be taking credit cards away from the table and should take the payment at the table.

Unfortunately date night was spoiled tonight.

Happened to notice our sever smelling my drink too close to his nose. although it was an awkward moment when I asked him did he smell my drink, he apologized, provided an explanation and continued to be apologetic. The issue began with the bartender discouraging us from requesting a new drink and gossiping with several other servers. After that, my food order just happens to be incorrect, and I’m told our Mac & cheese will take a while from one of the gossiping servers but failed to mention a timeframe. My husband asks “how long” as the Mac is apart of my meal already brought out to the table. The server responds saying 5 minutes. Five minutes passed and the Mac never came. Shortly after, a manager approaches and asks how dinner is going. I expressed I have been coming here for years and have never experienced this type of customer service. He immediately retrieved the Mac from the kitchen. I can see the kitchen from my seat. He picked it up and comes right out. From our end, it appeared as if the gossiping server intentionally made me wait for the Mac as a result I did not feel comfortable eating it. I’m so disappointed because this restaurant was special to my husband and I as it was our first dinner date over 5 years ago and has become my favorite restaurant. Scheduling date night with a newborn is not easy and our dinner date was spoiled tonight.

This is my 3rd visit to Chocolat Restaurant with a large group and the service has not gotten any better. Although we had to wait for a final person to join our group, no one took any drink or appetizer orders. When that time finally came, we waited 30mins to be told they did not have certain beers and for our drinks to finally arrive. I'm not sure if they are understaffed or just inconsiderate of people's time, but Chocolat's customer service is for the pitts! My group literally had to wait more then 45mins just to have our orders taken. Clap, Clap - their food is very good but it's frustrating to have to wait for it so long. We also found it very unfortunate that we had to continually wave the waitress down every time we needed something. Usually waiters/waitresses come to check on the tables.
Hopefully, if we ever choose to visit this establishment again they'll have more attentive staff available who knows how to handle larger groups.

I liked it! I was like where can I go for breakfast without going far and they were close so I stopped by. It was very peaceful which I think was nice, I know sometimes Harlem can be very fast paced and noisy so to actually sit down and just be at peace was nice.

The waitor helped a lot, for me at least, I don’t like a lot of convo I prefer just give my my food be nice I’ll be nice I eat then I go.

The food? Was really good! The dude didn’t haggle me trying to add 1082827 things he just listened, got me my iced coffee, and my food was out in like 10 minutes.

I’m probably gonna make this my brunch spot after a hangover haha, they also got mimosas which I was going to do but I’m still processing the 20 shots of tequila I had last night.

The food and service were good, but nothing super special. It was fine, just not super memorable. Felt a bit overpriced for what it was.
