The BLT was really good and the fried egg sandwich was pretty good too. The coffee was good. Just a nice place to get something to eat. The place had lots of people but is was still pretty quiet and easy to carry on a conversation.

The spanish server lady treated me terribly, took my order while cleaning, never checked on me, and argued with me when i sent my chili back.Didnt take the time to put sour cream over my chili just threw packages at me as if I was not dining in.
Food just simply lacks authenticity and flavor. My chili was more like a mexican bean bowl with spicy yellow rice in it and raw red onions on the top. It had a weird cinnamon flavor to it as well.
My Tuna melt was also very also weird made on english muffin with yellow cheese slapped over it. Kinda Gross.

Really bad service. You have to ask multiple times for someone to take your order.

2.5 stars for the food, but 3 stars overall because the service was good. Servers were nice snd fast.
We tried the Chicken Omelette, Steak and Eggs, Pancakes with chocolate chips, and Waffle with strawberries.
- The Chicken Omelette was really bland. The home fries that came with them were completely unseasoned. The only flavor came from the chicken chunks in the omlette. The omelette itself tasted oddly watery, maybe from the larger tomato chunks in it. Really not worth ~$19. I remember getting the same thing from Manhattan Diner, their sister restaurant, and liking it there, so I wanted to try it in this location, but it was so unappetizing. Just thinking about it makes me lose my appetite.
- The Steak and Eggs were really bland too, but the steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare.
- The pancakes weren't bad, but I thought the price for $3.95 per topping was a bit steep. Pancakes were soft and fluffy -- a bit undercooked though if I had to nit pick. The chocolate chips were embedded into the pancakes and gave a nice crispy to some of the edges of the pancakes. I think this was the only thing that tasted good.
- The waffle was okay. It wasn't crispy at all and was a little undercooked as well. It smelled sweeter than it tasted.
Overall, really didn't enjoy my dining experience here. The lighting was really dim, and the whole place smelled like I was in an airplane. One cashier/host kept coughing into his hands and walking around and touching everything, which made me lose my appetite even more. For the price, the food really wasn't good. I had a better experience at Manhattan Diner, which has the exact same menu.

I order Pork Chop. They were terrible. Dry and tasteless . No favor and ice cold broccoli. Never order it here
My first NYC Greek diner experience…loved it!
I had the pastrami on rye, and my plate was clean minutes later. Perfect energy source ahead of walking through Central Park.
I looked around and saw many senior citizens, which to me was a very good sign of patrons who maybe have been going to City Diner for years.
I’ll be back when I return to NYC!

City Diner is another classic place that makes the city look like if time has never passed. I am glad to have known this diner, one of the many can be found in New York, full of flavor and nostalgia (even though I wasn't born when they first opened their doors). The influence of 60's and 70's movies? Perhaps!
