I don't understand why there is such a line and hype here. Theres no seating and the service is really rude and unwelcoming. If the coffee was exceptional, I wouldnt mind the above but my espresso was very sour and underextracted. Maybe the coffee just is not good because I then got a cortado thinking the sweet warm milk would make the drink more pleasant but it was still terrible and undrinkable. I just don't understand the hype. So many amazing places for coffee in this area...

“Michelin” coffee. I don’t know anywhere else in NYC that has this many varieties of race beans. This is how great simple coffee can be.

Been regularly buying beans for home here. “retro” beans have been my go to dark roast for at home espresso.

Coffee Project New York is hands down one of the best coffee spots I’ve ever visited in the city! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. Their baristas are incredibly skilled and friendly — they truly care about every cup they serve. I tried their signature deconstructed latte, and it was an experience in itself — rich, smooth, and beautifully balanced. The minimalist decor and chill vibe make it perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. Definitely a must-visit for true coffee lovers in NYC!

Great pour over coffee. Lots of choices of beans. Barista gave great recommendations and was knowledgeable of the coffee. Lots of care and attention with brewing

I've tried a lot of coffee shops in NYC, and this place takes #1 for best tasting coffee/drinks! And don't get me started on the incredible latte art.
I go here about once per week, and it's always a treat. I've never had a drink I disliked, and can highly recommend the ube delight, cappuccino, vanilla latte, and strawberry matcha. Also, you've got to try the chocolate chip banana bread and ask for it warmed up!

A brilliant execution.
The project latte flight is absolutely fantastic! I loved trying the three mini drinks, each one was unique and delicious. I’d totally recommend it to anyone looking for something different and fun. I did take off a star because the wait for a seat was a bit longer than I expected, but it was definitely worth it!

One of the best coffee spots around - smooth, well-brewed, and perfectly creamy. The interior is also really nice.
First time try to drink coffee in new way (the Deconstructed Latte). It is pretty cool, fun and taste the coffee. The pastries are great too.

I’m so bummed to leave this review becuase usually I love this spot when I come to myc. My drink was rushed. Made way too hot which killed the flavors and foam. Even the cup was a mess.

Coffee Project in the East Village is a small, modern spot with a Euro-café vibe (bonus points for the no-laptop policy). Their medium-roast blend—Colombia meets Guatemala—hits a sweet spot: smooth milk-chocolate body with a caramel finish, zero bitterness, and plenty of flavor.
I ordered an almond croissant, and the staff offered to pop it in the oven. It came out crisp outside, soft and fragrant inside—no sogginess. They even let us enjoy a couple of pastries we’d picked up elsewhere at their outdoor table, all with genuine warmth.
Friendly people, thoughtful touches, and a medium roast I’d gladly order again. Perfect coffee-and-pastry stop in the neighborhood.

This is one of the better coffee shops in NYC, especially if you're a fan of pour-over coffee like me—which can be hard to come by here. They offer a nice selection of beans to choose from, and the baristas are skilled at making a great cup. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, plus free Wi-Fi. They also serve light snacks, and credit cards are accepted.
