There are so few places left on earth that feel truly authentic. We are so consumed by how many 5 star reviews somewhere got, or if it’s been sprinkled with magic influencer dust that I think we’ve forgotten to appreciate things for exactly who and what they are. The Cosmic Diner is EVERYTHING. The food is exactly what you would expect it to be, which is greasy and no frills and served with diner coffee and creamer in the little rip off containers - the delightful opposite of artisanal. The waiters are gruff. The food comes out in 6 minutes. The owner is there greeting everyone who walks in the door. This place has REGULARS, older people who are clearly here every day with their newspapers and their talking points about baseball and city life and their health ailments. It’s like time stopped here for a minute, and smartphones haven’t been invented yet, and maybe Jerry and George and his pals may waltz in from the 90s at any minute. You don’t come to places like this for a michellin meal - you come to remember what it was like when the world was slower, to sit with neighbors as they share their weekly breakfast, or to be an observer, like me, a person who isn’t from here but is so grateful that places like the Cosmic Diner still exist. Give them a visit. Take a moment to time travel.

Waiters rude, impatient, wow!!! Gave off serious negative vibes. Dish was bland, food as good as the service. Save time and $$$$ go elsewhere. Portions small. Think they cook bacon 5 hours before they serve it!!!

Bad experience overall. Service was poor and prices felt inflated for what was offered. The worst part was the way tipping was handled. At checkout, I selected a 16% tip, but the cashier insisted the machine only allowed 18% or 20% and pressured me into choosing 18%+. When I pushed back, she finally produced a separate receipt where I could enter my own amount. Tips should be up to the customer, not something you’re forced into. Very disappointing and not somewhere I’d return.
Came here for the pancakes and they didn't disappoint. Place looks like and old school diner and it's well located

We were looking for somewhere quick and easy to have lunch after a walk around Central Park and gave Cosmic Diner a try. So glad we did! We received friendly service, delicious food, and reasonable prices for the location. My husband had a BLT and I had a Ceasar salad and both were served quickly and made a great lunch. Great option if you're looking for a Diner style experience!
