To entertain my friends from Tokyo, I looked up to the cozy small restaurant in west village. Cotenna is one of the best decisions I have ever made in NYC. We ordered grilled octopus salad, tuna tartare, seafood pasta and gnocchi with chocolate truffle. Tiramisu, baked cheese cake and warm chocolate mousse were all delicious. It was very affordable. The beautiful girl who served us was so kind and made us relaxed. I found a gem in NYC!!
Food was delicious and reasonably priced, amazing neighborhood atmosphere. And need to give a HUGE THANKS to the employee who ran after us for three blocks with the backpack we left. Incredible service.

We ate 4 dishes. Two were very good (the shrimp & crab cake and the octopus salad), one was OK (the daily pasta) and one was mediocre (the warm mozzarella wrapped with prosciutto). However, our enjoyment was marred by an issue with the wine. During the meal, we sampled two types of white wine. The first was sufficiently cold, but the second was not cold enough and thus unenjoyable. We told this to the waitress, who replied: "This is how the wine should be", and did not offer to exchange it. She suggested we put an ice cube in the wine... We have drunk white wine, around the world, for about 40 years and have never encountered such an inadequate and insulting reaction. I would also mention that the restaurant is tiny and crowded and the noise level is somewhat above the ideal. Overall, our experience was not enjoyable enough to return to this restaurant.

We celebrated an impromptu wedding luncheon here. The staff made it a special event. The food and service was wonderful as expected but it was the extra small details and attitude of the staff that made it fabulous. Thank you!

Fab italian neighbourhood restaurant with a varied menu. All of the pasta dishes we ordered were delicious, the staff were very attentive and helpful. Highly recommend for good quality pasta dishes! ?

Very homey quaint italian dinner spot. Bolognese was a tad bit heavy but overall very delicious. Try their burrata and octopus specials. Their seafood linguine had the perfect texture.

We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated almost immediately at the bar. After a few minutes, the waitress told us the specials. She came back after probably 5 more minutes and took our orders. We asked about house wines and she grabbed a menu she had neglected to give us. Our food arrived fairly quickly. I had the spicy shrimp rigatoni. Pasta was cooked perfectly and sauce was very good, but I wouldn't call it spicy. I do think the shrimp was overcooked as the texture was a bit chewy. My boyfriend enjoyed his lobster ravioli. No bread was served to us. So maybe you had to order that as an app? And no water was ever offered to us. So since we were at the bar with the water bottles right in front of us, we ended up just helping ourselves. Overall the price was really affordable. The venue is nice. But service could have been better.
The food is very tasty and has a fairly acceptable variety. The service was not so attentive, but acceptable. The atmosphere is a little small for the number of diners. recommendable

Exceptional, neighborhood restaurant with great service and where you'll feel like you're at home. Nice wine collection and delicious dishes that include a unique Mac& cheese dish with truffles. Orecchiete dish was exceptional and must try the Tiramisu for dessert

Our first time here. Great experience. The menu is creative and inspiring! Not everyday Italian. We shared a lamb chop appetizer and beer salad. Bothe excellent. Main was shrimp artichoke pasta. Fresh tasting Service was personal and efficient. Good NYC experience
