Great atmosphere. The quality was pretty good. When they say the spicy broth is spicy, they really mean it

I have never had such a bad hot pot! ! ! ! After asking a few more questions, the waiter frowned. Are you so impatient? The meat was black and tasted worse than the happy sample. There was no service at all.. The waiter even automatically asked for a 20% tip when checking out. Do you deserve it?

My favorite authentic Sichuan hot pot in Manhattan. They get 5/5 for food because their soup base options are plentiful and you can choose your pot style! That is a mega plus for me because I can’t eat beef. Love the spicy but can’t have any beef cross contamination. When going with friends, I need my own no-beef zone!
I went recently and their ordering changed for the better. Everything is on the iPad and it’s very easy to go through and order what you want. You can easily go back in and add more items!
Dietary restrictions: Vegan soup base, spicy vegan soup base, non-spicy soup bases that are flavored in many different ways (tomato, mushroom, pork bone, etc)

Clean restaurant, good hot pot.
This was my first hot pot experience and it was amazing!!! Everything was delicious, the atmosphere was authentic. I was dining with a hot pot conossuir and she was extremely impressed!! I would highly recommend! The rib eye steak was our favorite.
Buy the way, the spicy broth is extremely spicy so go easy.

The bottom of the pot has no other taste except spicy, and no one cares about the minced garlic on the side. It's a flaw that the bottom of the pot doesn't work.

This place is amazing. A word of warning however if you’re going for the first time: if you don’t usually eat spicy foods or you’re particularly sensitive to capsaicin, you might think, “you know, maybe I’ll try the mildly spicy broth.”
Don’t.
If you do, you’ll pass away.
Further, it will be messy—don’t wear white.. or maybe that’s just me.
Other than that, happy eating!!

Been here every 3-4 months over the last 3 years and was always very impressed by the high quality of the soup and ingredients (we actually like this place more than Haidilao). Sadly after our visit last night, it was very clear they have started to compromise on their food standards. On our table was a flyer for $30 AYCE Weekday Lunch - that is aggressive pricing for this place and I believe that could be one of the reasons this business may have taken a different cost route.

I booked a private room at the restaurant for my son's birthday. Since the private room has the minimum consumption to meet and fixed tip as 20%. After the waiters brought the food to the room they did not show up to do their minimum service. we put the food in the hot pot and clean the table and put the dirty plates out and go out to ask for service. This is not worth to spend $700 to have a lunch at private room.

DLY is a chain from China, but Haidilao it is not. I wouldn't even compare the two, but they're kinda gunning for the same vibe with the elegant, modern decor and set-up.
We got the Double Flavor Spicy Beef Tallow and Pork Feet soup bases, though I mostly avoided the former because I wasn't feeling like purging my insides for the next 48 hours. But even if I had, I don't think I would've liked DLY's version, which was way too oily even by mala hot pot standards. The Pork Feet soup was fine, but not distinguishable from every other version I've had.
We split the Value Combo for 2, which would definitely not be enough food if both of you are starving. We tacked on taro and winter melon as well. Everything was fresh and prepared well, but no different than any other upscale hot pot spot in the city.
My main gripe was that at 5:30pm, they were already out of several of the base items, forcing us to have to pay extra to choose something else from within the Combo options. And there are a lot of upcharges if you want something even slightly better.
Total bill was $69pp. I've paid less for more. At least Haidilao gives you ice-cream.

Watch out for double tipping.
Foods great, service is great. However, they include a tip in the bill (even for just 2 people). When you ask for the bill, the server will bring over the tablet, skip all the way to yet ANOTHER tip screen then show you the tablet so you can't tell tip was already included. Ended up double tipping and only realizing later.
Minus 2 stars for this behavior.
