Michael is such an impressive chef, and I was hyped to try this restaurant after having Porchetta Shop in Charleston - it far exceeded my high expectations. I haven’t had pasta that got me this excited since I was in Rome, and at da Toscano we shared two pasta dishes that were a perfect 10/10 - no notes. On top of that the focaccia appetizer and pistachio tres leches were outstanding, and the service was warm and friendly. My wife and I were grateful to be able to celebrate our upcoming anniversary here and will likely visit again next time we’re in NYC.

We ordered the octopus carpaccio, oysters, artichokes, clam pasta, tortellini, parpadelle, and the ribeye. The clam pasta, parpadelle, and ribeye were absolutely fantastic. Best steak i've had in a while in NYC. Corine was a fantastic waitress and the service was amazing.

Da Toscano is such a gem. The atmosphere is warm and inviting — cozy but still lively — the kind of place where you immediately relax and know you’re in for a good evening.
The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. Service felt effortless and welcoming.
The food was outstanding. The baked oysters were absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. And the duck pappardelle was a true standout: tender, deeply savory, and beautifully executed. Every dish felt thoughtful and satisfying.
A spot we’ll definitely be coming back to.

The artichoke salad is excellent and definitely worth trying. The octopus carpaccio was very tasty. The sea bass sauce was presented very well. The service was friendly, but the atmosphere was a bit cold. I would definitely recommend it.

Best Italian in the city
This was my favorite Italian restaurant and it was such a disappointment visiting them last week. Not worth spending +100 per person.
Time management issue
Seated promptly at 5pm, waiter took 40 mins to finally take our orders. I requested a glass of prosecco only for them to bring the glass, not the liquid. Waited another 10 mins for the liquid to be brought over.
Food issue
The food was incredibly overly salted. The agnolotti was very salty, the scialatielli with clams was so salty that we had to return it. The waiter then told us it's supposed to be sour. They fired another one, this time it was sour, but the clams were un-chewable.
We switched it again to the duck ragu and that was salty as well.
At the end, the waiter told us our leftovers will be at the front host desk, but since we ordered dessert and another drink, of course we didn't remember. The hostess didn't say anything either. This could have been managed better as well.
Overall, very disappointing and will need to find a new favorite in town.

Food was phenomenal. We had the carpaccio and the artichoke to start and the 16oz steak and the branzino as mains. Two minor downers: hip hop and Fergie playing in the background was a tiny bit annoying considering the romantic ambiance..and as delicious as the steak was, for $125 should definitely include a side.

If you’re looking for great pasta….there are many other places in New York that can deliver. The desserts though - the olive oil cake was so moist and comforting. But the pistachio tres leches is what really left a mark with us. I’d eat it everyday - whoever is creating this stuff could work at the best restaurants in the world. You can really taste the love. Will be back!

Word on the street is that Da Toscano may be closing its West Village doors—and if that happens, it would be a complete tragedy. It’s become such a neighborhood staple: the go-to spot for my friends and me before comedy shows, after work, or honestly any excuse to gather. Closing this location would be a huge mistake—especially to relocate to the tourist-trap chaos of Bryant Park. What makes Da Toscano great isn’t just the food or drinks, it’s the locals who fill the room, the relationships with the staff, and the vibe that only the West Village can create. Please keep the West Village location open.

Apple olive oil cake is AMAZING. So spongy. And that cream on top is marvelous. Maybe I come back just for dessert. Pastas are good too.

da Toscano exceeded our expectations for a genuinely good, non touristy Italian restaurant in NYC.
The setting feels intimate and warm, and the service was top notch. It genuinely felt like our waiter was dedicated just to our table, attentive without ever being intrusive.
The food was outstanding. We started with the oysters, which were excellent, and the mushroom stracciatella, which was good though not the absolute standout of the night.
Where the restaurant truly shines is the pasta. Both dishes were phenomenal. The pappardelle with duck was unforgettable. The duck was incredibly tender and melted in your mouth, and the agnolotti was just as impressive.
Drinks were also very well done. A bit on the stronger side, but thoughtfully balanced and paired beautifully with the food.
Overall, a fantastic experience. Authentic, refined, and absolutely worth going back for.
