I had breakfast at Darling Rooftop during my stay at Park Lane Hotel in New York City. The view overlooking Central Park from the 47th floor is absolutely stunning and easily the highlight of the experience. The setting alone makes it memorable.
Breakfast is continental style with pastries, bagels, croissants, spreads, eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, coffee, and mini bottles of champagne for mimosas. The fresh fruit was excellent 🤤 the strawberries, cantaloupe, and melon were consistently fresh and flavorful. The miniature champagne bottles for mimosas were also a nice touch, and I appreciated the bottled still and sparkling water options.
That said, the food quality was mixed. The eggs were honestly disappointing and tasted processed, almost like powdered or pre-made eggs. I wasn’t a fan of the chicken sausage either. The bacon was thick and crispy, though quite oily. The potatoes were my favorite item and consistently good each morning.
There was an assortment of yogurt available, but no non-dairy options, which would have been a nice addition.
The staff truly stood out. Betty and the team were warm, welcoming, and attentive every day. Their service added a personal and positive touch to the experience.
Breakfast was included with my stay through American Express Travel using my Business Platinum card. While I appreciated having it included, if I were paying separately, I’m not sure I would consider it worth the price on its own. That said, the view and service make it enjoyable as part of the overall stay. Park Lane is not an inexpensive hotel, my nightly rate averaged around $500, so expectations are naturally higher.
Overall, the view and staff make Darling Rooftop worth experiencing, but there is room for improvement when it comes to the food quality.

Unfortunately, breakfast at The Darling didn’t meet expectations. The space clearly functions as a bar at night, and that atmosphere carries into the morning, which wasn’t ideal for a relaxed breakfast.
The menu options were limited, tables weren’t clean, and service felt stretched. While the views are nice, they don’t make up for the overall experience. Based on this visit, it’s not a place I would return to or recommend for breakfast.
There are better breakfast options nearby, including Sarabeth’s next door.

Really disappointing experience. I wasted about 45 minutes taking the train and walking here, only to find out the rooftop bar is reserved for hotel guests during the day. The guy at the lift just told me it’s for guests only. Don’t bother coming if you’re visiting New York — better to go somewhere else instead.
Due to the unfortunate and disgraceful termination of all employees at Darling and Rose Lane, both bars are closed for the foreseeable future. If you haven't already heard, after a number of employees filed a union petition for better pay, benefits and job security, they were abruptly let go. What makes this even more appalling is that even those not involved were also terminated. 40-45 employees all lost their jobs without any explanation or compensation. It's not clear whether the Park Lane plans to re-open either bar at some point, but I personally refuse to support a hotel that treats its employees this way. Particularly a hotel that charges upwards of $1,000 a night for rooms, even more for suites, and offers an all night caviar service. I've always loved staying at this hotel and thought the staff (including those who worked at the bars) were unparalleled compared to most hotels. It saddens me that this has happened and even more that the hotel would do such a thing. The Park Lane has lost my business and I hope others will follow suit. Shame on the Park Lane! Their employees deserve to be treated better than this!

We made a reservation. We came for the views which were amazing! Our server was amazing, Noe, and he was so patient with us with our drink orders and went above and beyond by explaining the views and drink menu for us. We ordered drinks and I enjoyed my whiskey drink pictures but my friends ordered vodka drinks with blue curacao and they said it was too tart. We definitely came for the views, we had dinner before so we did not order any food here.

It's closed, they let you make a reservation but it's actually not open super disappointing
We had a reservation, got a confirmation the day before, and showed up to find the restaurant is closed for a couple weeks. Didn’t even bother to notify us and several others walked in behind us that also had not been told. Completely unprofessional.

The view from this place looks to be amazing but the reality is it’s very unlikely your table will be facing that direction. Been twice and both times the table has been on the side which is extremely average and nothing like the pictures. Drinks also grossly expensive

The view is everything :)! Cocktails were good.
Nice rooftop but very pricey. Very rude about their seating out where the views are.

Find another rooftop. The random overweight man that was blocking paying customers from taking pictures of the views was insane. Not only was he rude and unprofessional - he told my whole group to not come back to the rooftop. Paying a tab of $321.45 for drinks and not being able to take pictures for my birthday was very unsettling when the whole purpose for us being there was for the ambiance and the memories. Upon asking for management they offered us 1 free drink for a party of 15 LOL
Point is - if you want to take pictures be ready to be cussed out and told to leave.
