Excellent food and service. Amanda was personable, helpful and attentive. Porter house steak was delicious. Highly recommend. Will be back!

Had an enjoyable dinner during restaurant week. The hangar steak with frites was delicious
We sat for a late dinner in the bar on restaurant week. Delicious Bronzino with ratatouille and mushroom ravioli.
Food not as good as expected. Beet salad had 2 small pieces of beet. Tuna Tartar had some unnecesary greens and almost no avocado.
I pass this place all the time, but today I saw a Restaurant Week sign and decided to try it. Small spot. Not crowded for lunch, but enough people that it didn’t feel awkward, and it wasn’t noisy.
I’m not a big drinker, but I usually try a cocktail from the menu. The drinks listed on their website weren’t on the current menu, and nothing else sounded good enough to spend $20 on one drink.
For lunch I ordered the Caesar salad and the steak frites. The Caesar was a generous portion but otherwise totally forgettable. The only memorable part was the croutons, and even those were oddly soft, with no crunch at all.
The steak was horrible, honestly. It smelled weird, almost fishy, and it was extremely tough. I ordered it medium. It looked medium, but they bring it out on a sizzling plate and the underside was way overcooked.
My biggest complaint was the service. I understand there was only one person serving the whole place, but I wasn’t checked on even once. My water got refilled, which was the only saving grace. No one asked how the food was, if I wanted anything else, or gave me a chance to ask for steak sauce to help the sad steak go down. After I was clearly finished, the restaurant emptied out and I still had to put my coat on and walk up to the bar just to get my check.
I really hoped I’d like this place and find a new lunch spot in the area, but it wasn’t worth it, even during Restaurant Week.

The wait service was attentive and friendly, but the kitchen was a continuing issue. Popovers were served cold inside with a congealed mound of cheese at the base. One of three entrees was served five minutes after the others. The beef dishes were fine, but nothing special. They were not cooked to order, the medium served medium rare and the medium rare was very rare. The special pecan pie was good, but the key lime pie was clearly mass produced and lacking fresh tang. The room was attractive and I would perhaps visit for the bar but as a restaurant it was a disappointment.
David Burke is an important neighborhood go-to for dinners with friends as well as on our own. We always receive a kind welcome and good service -- and the food is reliably delicious. We especially like the upstairs dining room where it is usually easy to converse without too much "noise competition".
Lovely people on staff, making Thanksgiving feel like we were with family! Only surpassed by the fantastic food! Every course was amazing! Thank you!!
The portions other than the cranberry sauce and stuffing were quite generous; table service lovely, friendly. Food is always top-notch here. We will return.
My fiancé and I had dinner here on thanksgiving with their Prefix menu. Along with this I had two glasses of wine. The total came out to be close to $300. For the price, it was not worth it at all. We were sat downstairs across from the bar and were able to see the bartenders, servers, and kitchen. I had to ask 2-3 times for my glass of wine after I ordered which was especially annoying considering we were looking right at the bartenders just sitting back chatting with each other. We were one of only 3 groups downstairs so they were not busy. I also had to send back 2/3 of my dishes because they were not what I ordered. Everyone was plenty nice, but for a meal with this price tag I wasn't expecting such bad service. The food was okay, but nothing to call home about. There's about 300 restaurants in the city I'd go to before ever going back here.

El servicio es muy amable pero tuvimos que pedir 2 veces que nos calentaran la comida. El primer plato frío y el pavo de los 4 completamente frío. El servicio se disculpó y fueron realmente amables.
We had a wonderful meal here on Thanksgiving. The wait staff was very sweet and helpful. As you would expect on such a busy day, service was a bit delayed but we didn't mind. Once again, David Burke Tavern did a great job! Thank you for creating a varied holiday menu that had something for everyone.
Went for Thanksgiving. Service was great. Staff was very attentive and professional. Food was lacking. Lobster dumplings were tasteless, lukewarm and tops were hard. Ordered the filet mignon over mashed potatoes. Filet was not what I expected for restaurant grade. Also over about a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. Very disappointing. Another guest had the turkey dinner which was great.
The food is always SO GOOD! Ambiance so very New York clubby without feeling elitist; just a warm room upstairs and a lovely bar downstairs with good fun and great food.
Great legacy but the food wasn't great. Lobster dumplings - lobsters hard and chewy and the dumplings are in purses where the top is very thick and hard. Sauce was fine. The pretzel crab cake was not good. My friend had it also and agreed. Very little crab and a lot of pretzel. A lot of shell. Sauce was good. Pains me to say this because I had a love for the townhouse and think David Burke is very talented.
