IF YOU’RE BLACK, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Despite seeing all the negative reviews me and my friends decided to give this place a chance during a bar crawl on my bday. All I can say is that all the negative reviews are completely accurate. The bartender (this bald guy with glasses that seems to be celebrity in these reviews) was extremely rude to everyone in my group EXCPET for my white boyfriend…. Funny how that works. He ignored my friends and then when he finally gave them the time of day, yelled at them for taking pics and placing a small purse on the bar (to pay, mind you!), and initially refused to remake an incorrect order. Funny again how that order only got remade when my boyfriend complained but when my black friend complained he was argued with… it’s so sad to see lgbtq+ spaces not only participate in racism but then also excuse it! Because when my boyfriend complained to the manager the only excuse he could come up with for his racist employee was that “maybe he’s having a bad night”…. I don’t know in what world it’s acceptable to take out your bad mood on your patrons let alone how a bad mood translates to treating your black customers poorly and disrespectfully but this clear display of dismissal just proves that racism is welcomed inside those four walls.

Do not go here if you don’t want your money stolen by the bartender.

I’ve been a loyal customer of DBL and Mickey Spillanes (same owner) since I moved to NYC 10 years ago. Always great hospitality, prices, and atmosphere.

On Friday evening, November 7th, 2025, I went to DBL and bought two double vodka sodas and it came to $16 which I know was the total from my friend buying the first round. I gave the bartender a $20. He gave me the drinks, took the $4 in change out and put it in his tip bucket. I tried to get his attention to give me my change and he actively ignored me. It might be $4, but it’s still stealing. And the funny part is - I was prepared to tip him more than my change.

Do not go here. I can only imagine what scam is being run by this person on credit cards. What a horrible disappointment after years and years of wonderful experiences. I’m so sad to not be able to go here ever again, but the trust is broken, and I’ll make sure to get the word out.

This is one of our favorite OG spots in Hell’s Kitchen. Easy & chill dive bar. Great music and a good pre-game spot.

Bartender is terribly rude and slow. Cheap drinks but I rather pay more for better service.

Bouncer shut the door right as we pulled it and said they were closed. Once we walked away he let some other guy in. Don’t know if it was because we were non-white or had women in our group

I had to leave a review just because I’m so gagged people said they have bad service? Our bartender was so nice, the drinks are cheap, and it’s a cute little bar. It was definitely slower and barely anyone was here, but it’s also 9:30pm on a Monday.

$4 Stellas. What else to say? Gets too crowded and noisy on weekends.

We stopped by Bar 3.30pm on May 3rd and had a disappointing experience.
We asked the bartender if they had frozen margaritas, and he responded in a very unfriendly manner, saying they didn’t have it. We still considered staying and asked if they had other drinks. His response? “You can go to the bar across the street.”

When we asked if they had an IPA, he once again said no — still with the same dismissive attitude. Throughout the entire exchange, he was more interested in chatting with his friend at the bar than engaging with us. It was clear he didn’t want us there and made no effort to offer alternatives or be welcoming in any way. We were a group of three, polite and open, but left feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable.

Asked a few questions but didn’t know what to order. Bar tenders proceeded to ignore me and my friend and take everyone’s order who walked up, I made eye contact to tell him I was ready when he had a minute. I didn’t get to open my mouth before he snapped and said he was doing something. Super rude, place smells and and is dirty. Which makes sense it’s a dive bar but yeah service sucked.

Please make sure you tip your bartender $2-3 per drink. They sell drinks for $4, so the pencentage tip rules don’t apply.
