We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Deux Amis. We dined at the bar. The service was great. We tried several of the specials and they did not disappoint at all. The halibut was fabulous. The portion was quite generous and the preparation was wonderful. The crab cake was similarly quite pleasing. The wine by the glass was quite good and fairly priced. We will surely return.

Incredibly charming and beautiful venue. I feel like I'm transported to Paris. The location is quite far east but the fact that it's located pretty far from everything makes it a hidden gem. Walking in, you're greeted with a dimly lit space that feels romantic and a night vibe. The service is really great and friendly. For foods, we decided to try a mix across the menu from Salade de Betterave (Roasted Beets with Pan Seared Goat Cheese and Chicory Salad), Poulet Roti Au Gratin Dauphinois (Pan Roasted Chicken Breast with Oven Potato Cheese Gratin), and Bucky's Burger. The portions at Deux Amis are quite large and the food was seasoned quite nicely. They do justice to the french cuisine and have everything in style - the menu isn't the largest which I do appreciate because then I don't have to browse for too too long. For an intimate night with french cuisine, I'll definitely be back.

Wonderful retro tiny French restaurant with great food and service, and quiet. Banquette seats could use some work: very worn and my husband could actually feel the springs when he sat down. Otherwise great experience.

We have gone here many times in the last 7 years but last Friday was a real disappointment. Maybe they had a new chef. The endive salad was missing some key ingredients like blue cheese. The Boeuf Bourguignon was not cooked well as meat was tough and some ingredients missing. The rest of the meal was not up to par. The expresso was good. It will be a while before we go back.

Deux Amis is a quiet treasure in East Mid-Town. It is a locals restaurant, also discovered by some UN staff. The food is excellent, the staff friendly and the noise level low for the most part. My only request would be that, in addition to offering daily specials, they should change up their menu every six months or so. If Deux Amis did this, then it would be BY FAR our favorite restaurant in the area.

With Deux Amis, you know what you're getting: consistently great food (on the comfort food side, but more sophisticated), very nice bistro ambience, friendly staff, and great service. From the salad to the dessert, and everything in between, it's always a great experience. Last night with the family was no exception.

A wintry winter day and a growing appetite for French bistro fare led us Deux Amis. Two awkwardly prepared aperitifs (one returned for credit) might have prepared us for an olive loaf passing as pate. Stringy vol au vent and burnt, not browned, onion soup topped off the meal. A delicious bread suggested that maybe things might be better in the kitchen.

Amazing food - get the French onion soup! We also love the escargot and steak frites.
