We live this place for their unique dishes. Spice level is good to high. We often eat Indian so we may be able to tolerate more. Order a Lassi it will help! One dish is enough for 3, the paneer appetizer was great. The Channa appetizer was nice and crispy, small plate but good as a starter. The chicken cutlet is a chicken patty similar to a chicken andana Turkish dish but Indian. Go on a Sunday if you’re driving in, plenty of street parking in that area.

every dish at dhamaka exceeds expectations!!! chef vijay and server katherine made our experience wonderful and i DEFINITELY will be back
Rats are rampant in this restaurant. They run around during dinner service under the tables. A rat literally fell from the ceiling onto a table that a family with children were eating dinner at. Rat droppings can be found in corners of the restaurant. They store raw food on the floor sometimes and I have witnessed them leave the raw lamb shanks for the biryani out of the fridge warm for over 6 hours. They have a B health rating which is as low as you can get without shutting down. Restaurant is honestly a health hazard. Beware. Food is stored on floor near mops, brooms, trash cans. I’m serious there’s a serious rat problem and food storage issue here.

Absolutely delicious regional Indian cuisine! Every dish is a different celebration of taste. Our favorites included the pepper beef, the dal, and the okra. Even though we were stuffed, we had to squeeze in dessert — both scrumptious! Katherine was the perfect server, knowledgeable and thoughtful. Can’t wait to return!

We recently dined at Dhamaka during our family vacation to New York City, and it was hands-down one of the most memorable meals of our trip. From the moment we walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality set the tone for a great evening.
The food was absolutely exceptional – bold, flavorful, and truly a unique twist on Indian cuisine. Every dish felt like a celebration of regional flavors that are often overlooked, and it was a refreshing departure from the more common Indian fare. We were especially impressed with the variety of vegetarian options, which were just as creative and satisfying as the non-vegetarian dishes.
Standouts for us included the richly spiced eggplant dish and the melt-in-your-mouth paneer – both were packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were perfect for sharing, allowing us to try a wide range of items on the menu.
Dhamaka is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore authentic, bold, and inventive Indian food in NYC. Highly recommend for families, foodies, and anyone open to discovering something deliciously different!

We had an amazing dinner at Dhamaka with superb service. We had several different non alcoholic beverages and then had the beef pepper fry, the Paneer Methi, Dhaba Dal, Briyani (fantastic) and garden nimbu pani. We enjoyed everything we ordered, spice level was perfect for us. Our server was good at making suggestions and helping us order. Our bill for 4 people was $285 with the tip. If you are looking for a great Indian restaurant, I highly recommend trying Dhamaka. Reservations a must.

The food was very average and comparable to street food. The curry tasted as if it was cooked with old oil, and the meat appeared to be old, dry, and blackened with gravy. Additionally, the ambience of the restaurant was not pleasant.
Overall, I feel that my visit was a waste of both time and money.

put this spot off for a while since i really didn’t enjoy semma, but after seeing a recent video i got the sudden urge to try it and i’m so glad i did! started with the lamb belly which was probably my least favorite dish of the night. it had nice flavor with a medium (to me) spice level, but i found it too salty. next we had the eggplant with paratha. both were amazing but i personally liked them better separate than together. the eggplant has a kick but i wouldn’t say it’s spicy. for entrees we tried the goat and the chicken. chicken was my favorite dish! the best way i can describe the sauce on the chicken is an indian alfredo. i absolutely loved it but its heavy. probably the only dish with zero spice. the goat was also amazing but a little too spicy for my liking. they said the goat would be a medium spice level, however different cuisines have different versions of mild, medium, and intense spices levels and for me i found it to be more on the intense side. we barely made a dent in the menu so i can’t wait to go back and try more!

The first time my friends and I ate at Dhamaka we got the eggplant, crab, paratha and biryani which were all fantastic and well cooked. The second time we ordered the paratha, lasooni palak, and biryani, unfortunately the biryani rice was very salty and difficult to eat without the lamb (which was not over salted) . The service both times was very good and otherwise our experiences were quite nice.
