Coconut Crusted Chicken Fingers. Orange Roasted Sweet Potatoes. These two looked so attractive in this upscale salad bar. Dishes, family owned, is located on 45th Street between Madison and Fifth Avenues. I knew this place but never went in. All salad bars weigh the box or plate so if one takes heavy goods it is going to cost more. Take judiciously. Now in two weeks I have eaten here twice. Frequented by office personnel who take out but others stay in to eat. Like I did. Both the chicken and sweet potatoes were delicious. I also took some greens, rice salad and other foods. Then on the second visit after I ate, I filled a box with four chicken pieces and another with sweet potatoes to eat at home. I also bought two cookies: flourless chocolate for Age and a chocolate chip one for myself. No doubt this is a fairly pricey place with fancy offerings like crab cakes but it is tasty and worth every penny. Dishes is a clean salad bar with music and a pretty restroom with muted chartreuse green walls similar to the walls in the interior. All the employees were professional and friendly. I can't wait to return.

Disappointing Experience
The prices were unreasonably high, and I believe I was overcharged—I'd recommend they double-check their weighing scale. The person at the counter was busy making beverages while a long line of customers waited to pay. This place has definitely changed over the years, and not for the better. It feels like they’re trying to make up for lost business by overcharging, all while serving subpar food.

Overpriced, can’t believe this was $24. Literally took like a tablespoon of a couple times and the container was as not filled as you can see. Price should be much lower for such small about

it seems I was robbed. I went to this place to have my lunch. so i did get the foods like a buffet style. so i did get one of each food that was there that looks good and I like. and when i was in the counter i was sho shocked that the food i got was $32 for one person and my tray was not event full. and i only got little of this and little of that. it more expensive rather than eating at ichiran. Imagine $32 dollor for that food a small coffee. its so insane... so stay away if you are not willing to spen this much money for just a lunch of 1person. becuase for sure i will not go back.

Every food item I’ve had there has been solid. Yes it’s very pricey but the quality & consistency, in my opinion, cannot be beat. I especially love their scrambled eggs and brown sugar bacon, I’ve never had better…

This was one of the most infuriatingly overpriced and disappointing food spots I have ever had the misfortune of giving my money to. The food was truly 100% sub par, nothing special whatsoever. By 1pm half the food options on the buffet were empty and not being restocked. It was cold and did not look appetizing whatsoever. There is nothing “high-end” about this place whatsoever besides the price. I had little time to decide so I had to pick something and get out and get back to work.

The atmosphere was completely and utterly bland, just like the food. There is no feeling, no spice, no color to this place. It is like that episode of SpongeBob where squidward’s Time Machine takes him to the all-white “Alone” dimension.

$25 for a tiny container with a bit of pasta and 3 pieces of flavorless chicken. Great.

Don’t go here. Go anywhere else. You will get tastier food, and more of it, for less.

I'm quite disappointed with our latest catering order that was delivered today. We order often from Dishes, getting the same things routinely for our staff lunch. We received our order and got chicken breasts instead of coconut chicken fingers. The size of the pesto pasta is the same size we normally get though I had asked and paid for 2-3 more serving when it was the same exact portion. I waited for them to exchange the chicken, which took over an hour, our staff had to wait to eat, and when receiving the correct order, the coconut chicken isn't prepared as usual, it wasn't crispy and soggy with 1 red sauce when it usually comes with the green sauce as well. Truly a big turn off. We hope you guys do better next time. I tried calling multiple times but no one is answering now and their online comment submission isn't working. Thanks.
