We wanted to grab a bagel at Ess-a-Bagel but so did all of NYC! The line was out the door! We stopped here at dishes instead because #hangry. It was such a pleasant surprise. It is clean and quick. The smoothie (the flu shot) was fantastic. Fresh and energizing. The scones were perfectly sweet and had a good crumb. The house latte (A latte with caramel) was SO tasty and the Carmel doesn't overwhelm.

Very clean, bright and open establishment. I came in the morning when I was craving a bagel with chive cream cheese. Not to many people inside so was helped fairly quick. Ordered myself a poppy seed bagel with chive cream cheese. Usually I like the everything bagel but this wasn't available here. For the bagel itself, it was a flat bagel with not a lot of cream cheese put on there. Kinda disappointed as how you can screw up a bagel that much in NYC. I must say that all the employees were friendly, smiled and were helpful in any way. Might come back to try something different but definitely not another bagel for me here.

Was given a fork and a knife with my soup I was being served by a nice gentleman when a lady jumped out of nowhere and grabbed the soup container off of him and hastily served me with little to no substance just the runny water.Been coming here for a while despite them still not taking Apple Pay, but I guess hale and hearty will be my go to from now on. Can't even serve soup properly.

I’m not sure how this place has so many positive reviews. I just got a very basic salad with a few ingredients and my bill was $20! That is outrageous even by local standards. This place is a complete and utter rip off. No wonder it was empty during peek lunch rush hour. I should have known just on that basis.

Chef-quality food! Once I discovered Dishes location near my office, I'm eating from their buffet almost everyday. The food is very tasty and of the highest quality. The Salmon is always fresh and wonderfully baked, the chicken is juicy and baked Portobello mushroom fries are great. Most of lunch places, even in the competitive midtown area, are pretty medicare. But Dishes, even slightly more expensive, gives the best value considering the superb quality of its buffet. I wish they will open more locations including the UWS. Negative point: they use plastic containers.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at dishes this morning. As someone still trying to wake up after my first cup of coffee and an avid foodie/ new Yorker, I was delighted to discover that it was a gently lit, clean, and spacious food haven that is going to become my new food place. The staff there are super sweet and accommodating. They made my life feel better after a hard start to my morning by being kind and making me a sandwich at a reasonable price. I honestly didn't expect that and instantly had my faith in humanity restored. My experience also highlights the importance of being kind to all people and to not underestimate the power of those in the service industry. God bless!
