I visited today for their Restaurant Week menu. Based on their website and in-house menu, I chose the half-dozen oysters as my starter and steak frites as my main dish. However, when my order arrived, I noticed there were only three oysters. Upon asking, I was told that they had downsized the portion for the Restaurant Week menu—something that was not mentioned anywhere beforehand. This felt misleading. The steak was decent, but the portion was disappointingly small. Overall, it was a terrible experience. Given the overpriced menu, average food quality, and less-than-welcoming service, I won’t be returning.
Dowling's was such a wonderful experience. The menu was so diverse and creative, and the service was exceptional. The wait staff and chefs were all so welcoming, kind and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. The food was so fresh and made to perfection.

I am only writing this review to rave about Jill the sommelier. She was knowledgeable, approachable, and made our dinner. She was wonderful. Highly recommend.
Dinner at the Carlyle last night - Dowlings. FYI - avoid it! Worst service we have had in any high-end restaurant anywhere in the world! Prices are crazy, which is tolerable if they make you feel special, but they made us feel invisible. Could not get anyone to get a second glass of wine. Finally snared a busboy. Wanted to leave NO tip. They asked to show a tip for captain and a separate tip for server, but, honestly, none of us had any idea who our server was! Not same person twice who brought us anything. No one - no server, no captain - ever asked us if things were ok or if anything was needed. They totally forgot my vegetable order so it arrived halfway through my sole. Food mediocre. Presentation awful- white fish on white plare with no lemon, nor parsley , nothing. Similar look to all items ordered. Do not waste your money here!

If you are not a regular at Dowlings, I am not sure why you would ever become one. When you are expecting a 5 star experience but are ignored while others get offered newspapers and you just want to get some water, or the items that you ordered, and heaven forbid you want your check...the non-elite need not apply.

Had breakfast here two mornings in a row while staying at the hotel. The dining space is nice but had an unappetizing smell while I was there. Similarly, the breakfast was fine but nothing to write home about and both mornings it was over $50 for breakfast for one. It’s convenient when staying in the hotel and service is good but I wouldn’t come for a meal if I was not already in the hotel.

Horrible experience. All of us got sick. We were celebrating my friend’s bday. She ended up in ER. Food poisoning.
We ordered steak oysters. No one told us one piece of steak is $270
When we were ordering Prosecco our waiter shamed us for ordering such a cheap drink. Insane.
When i called them to let them know about our experience the guy I spoke with was rude!

Pretty good food, small portions, snotty service. I simply didn’t feel welcome by some of the staff.

Good service and nice decor, but $12 for a plain iced tea (literally just tea and water), and $31 for a regular martini? That’s just ridiculous.

This restaurant is truly ridiculous. We went for Mother’s Day brunch and it was the most overpriced soup, salad, tea and coffee. This came to $300 per person. Food was mediocre. The service was inconsistent. Some tables got bread. Others did not. Why is that? They took our dessert order and instead of giving us what we asked for, everyone got the same thing - a sampler of everything. Why bother asking what each person wants if you’re going to deliver the same thing to everyone? I watched them ask several tables what they wanted for dessert and gave everyone the same thing. It goes without saying that I will never go back.
