First time. The sign that says $7.95 for dumplings
Draws you in. The. At the kiosk, it says $3.95 each for appetizer soup or beverage. Be careful it’s each!!!! So I ordered threes sides thinking it’s $3.95 but it’s 3.95*3. So the meal was over $21.00. The vegetarian spicy dumplings were fine. The sides and drink eeh…. I got two cucumber salads. On the kiosk, I couldn’t add two so it took some time to order. It looked fine but it lacked tastes. Just had the spice. It was bland. Then waiting is another story. No one was in there and only one order she was of mine. The work was in slow motion. The black tea was an odd taste. It was sweetened and didn’t taste like black tea. Only drank half. It’s just ok.

I was so happy to see an authentic Taiwanese place in the neighborhood. Sadly though, authentic doesn’t necessarily mean good. These had to be some of the worst soup dumplings I’ve had - thick and gummy wrapper, little soup, and no flavor. The Sichuan wontons weren’t much better. It all tasted very fast food like to me. I’ll give a star for the two appetizers - the seaweed salad and woodear mushrooms - but honestly it’d be hard to screw those up. To add insult to injury, the prices here aren’t cheap, the only aspect of this place that isn’t like a fast food joint.
Chowder soup is delicious

Most authentic Taiwanese pan fried dumplings on the East Coast. Dumplings taste exactly like how it did back in Taiwan. Spicy sour soup is the kind where the spiciness comes from the addition of hot peppers instead of white pepper powder, so it’s got too much of a bite than I wanted but otherwise the texture and flavor of the soup were spot on.
A little worried about the future of the restaurant since there’s never too many people there every time I stop by. There doesn’t seem to be much advertising or marketing promotion either, around the city, social media or otherwise. Hope they stick around and the business gets better and expand in the US. 加油?
