I used to order and go to the place ALL the time the food is great for comfort food but the service as of lately I’m not to keen on I place an simple breakfast order online “mangu with salami extra salami and red onions and a passion fruit juice “ when I recivced my order imagine my disappointment when they sent me a watered down bitter passion fruit juice and mango with slices of fried cheese . It’s not the first time this happened so I decided to call the lady on the online then persisted to tell me that the MANAGER was the one packed up my order and they have no way of refunding me … thanks for nothing

El Castillo de Jagua offers Spanish food with Dominican and Cuban flair. Large menu and attentive staff. Best of all, the prices and the generous portions. Great black beans!

Writing this place a review that they don’t even need . Their clientele doesn’t use Google Maps, they just show up because it’s their only option, and it’s likely a good one.
Not at all places in NY are made for the “foodie” crowd or even your average diner. El Castillo is here because it needs to be. For the people who live in the neighborhood and need a good meal that feels like home, with local folks they recognize and feels like where the DR.
This felt like old New York. Stepping back in time before the whole city became a playground for the rich. I miss those days.
Wheelchair accessibility: Very easy and spacious for my wheelchair.

today I went in and purchase a lunch item " Carne guisada with white rice and black beans" to go. usual when they give beans its super watery and not really any beans. so,. I asked for them to not add too much liquid to the beans. instead I get no beans and just liquid...typically I rave about the good, but today was trash

I love it, I love their soups, especially the chicken one, that Colombian girl that they now have as a waitress is a sweetheart, the truth is, the place is very cozy and the food is delicious, whenever I am going to make a trip around Serca from there, I don't miss the opportunity to stop by to eat. there.

Danger: Food Poisoning Outbreak.
Last night my wife and I both ate the beef and rice served here. Today we both ended up in the emergency room being treated for severe food poisoning .
The emergency room attendant told us “we get so many yes patients who have eaten at El Castillo de Jagua.”
I genuinely hope that El Castillo grand street
will take serious food safety classes, especially since we the emergency room attendant told us of their reputation. (At Grand Street)

This restaurant has a needy of keeping consumers on 20-35min wait time just to order food then they’ll take another hour to deliver food , why have a Spanish restaurant in a busy community where you can’t deliver … this Dominican restaurant has been like this for over 3-5 years nothing has changed I’m truly disappointed with whom ever owns this company disgrace to my culture and to the community.
