No turkey bacon or sausage. That’s insane in 2025. Won’t be back.
A classic and traditional Dominican restaurant with horrible habits. I feel that it is customary to bring iced water and bread to the table also I feel they shouldn’t drop off a can a coke and a straw at your table at the very least you should be asked if you would like a cup of ice. Food is good but the service and attention to detail distracts you from how good the food can actually be even though we never received our salad. I think proper training of staff and holding staff accountable is necessary in order to ensure that your pricing reflects the service customers receive. Long story short not worth the money.

I went there after visiting an art installation and was craving Dominican food as I was in lower east side and El Castillo de Jagua 2 was the closest to us. The restaurant is very outdated. The food was just OK. I had grilled chicken, white rice, salad, and a soda--it was enjoyable.

I used to order and go to the place ALL the time the food is great for comfort food but the service as of lately I’m not to keen on I place an simple breakfast order online “mangu with salami extra salami and red onions and a passion fruit juice “ when I recivced my order imagine my disappointment when they sent me a watered down bitter passion fruit juice and mango with slices of fried cheese . It’s not the first time this happened so I decided to call the lady on the online then persisted to tell me that the MANAGER was the one packed up my order and they have no way of refunding me … thanks for nothing

El Castillo de Jagua offers Spanish food with Dominican and Cuban flair. Large menu and attentive staff. Best of all, the prices and the generous portions. Great black beans!

Writing this place a review that they don’t even need . Their clientele doesn’t use Google Maps, they just show up because it’s their only option, and it’s likely a good one.
Not at all places in NY are made for the “foodie” crowd or even your average diner. El Castillo is here because it needs to be. For the people who live in the neighborhood and need a good meal that feels like home, with local folks they recognize and feels like where the DR.
This felt like old New York. Stepping back in time before the whole city became a playground for the rich. I miss those days.
Wheelchair accessibility: Very easy and spacious for my wheelchair.

today I went in and purchase a lunch item " Carne guisada with white rice and black beans" to go. usual when they give beans its super watery and not really any beans. so,. I asked for them to not add too much liquid to the beans. instead I get no beans and just liquid...typically I rave about the good, but today was trash

I love it, I love their soups, especially the chicken one, that Colombian girl that they now have as a waitress is a sweetheart, the truth is, the place is very cozy and the food is delicious, whenever I am going to make a trip around Serca from there, I don't miss the opportunity to stop by to eat. there.
