Our New Year’s Eve dinner at EMP fell short of expectations. Here’s a breakdown of the experience:

The Good:
The service was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, staff were attentive—greeting us, taking our coats, and escorting us to our table. The sommelier, Nick, recommended an outstanding bottle of champagne that we thoroughly enjoyed.

The Disappointments:
The first half of the courses was underwhelming. They lacked creativity and flavor, with one dish being nothing more than an avocado with tonburi. For a dinner priced over $4,000, such simplicity felt inappropriate. Truffles, while delicious, were overused and detracted from the overall experience.

A few service missteps were also surprising for a three-star Michelin restaurant. For instance, a server brought us bread without describing it—something I’ve never encountered at a restaurant of this caliber.

While the meal improved after the squash course, another truffle tart was served, essentially repeating an earlier dish. Although the gesture was appreciated, it didn’t showcase variety or creativity.

Additional Concerns:
The cleanliness of the restrooms did not meet the high standards I expect from a three-star restaurant.

We have a tradition of celebrating New Year’s in NYC at a Michelin-starred restaurant, but this experience was highly disappointing. While the service merits one star, the food and overall experience fall far short of three-star quality.

From the gorgeous atmosphere to the meticulously curated entrees, this team has manufactured a work of art. We were welcomed by caring, professional staff eager to make our experience perfect. My admiration only deepened when I discovered how decadent and delicious a simple leak could be. Everything is in the perfect spot. A visit here is not recommended - it's essential.

Dining at Eleven Madison Park is always a unique experience.
Although the vegan food did not impress, the staff were amazing and the atmosphere romantic, even though there were constant movement of staff since we sat close to the Kitchen opening.
I have to say that we expected way more of the food of a 3 Stars Michlen restaurant. Except the Avocado and the fried Mushrooms, most of the food tasted similar and there wasn't even once that we were wowed by the food.
I don't think this experience is worth the money, unfortunately.

Not worth a single star: the food was, sadly, very disappointing.
The bottom line is that it’s overpriced and overrated.

We started our meal feeling like it would be very hard to impress us, and left the restaurant totally in awe. The service was outstanding and the personal touches really hit. After being served a dessert made with maple syrup and snow in the kitchen and lamenting we would not make out annual trip to the LLBean store this year, our second dessert was served with a Holiday greetings complete with a LLBean boot! The subtleties and attention to detail of each dish were so impressive.

I rarely write reviews for a restaurant but, it just has to be said, Eleven Madison Park is absolute perfection. This is the second time I’ve dined there and the first time, which was in 2019, was memorable and spectacular. I don’t know how this team has managed to take the restaurant to the next level but they have.

The food is indescribable and lovely in every way. Truly unique, subtle yet powerful. The space is understated and elegant. But, to me, what made me return and what will make me come back each and every time I’m in New York is the people who work there. Their commitment to excellence and making their guests feel special sincerely gives me hope. It feels like everything they do comes from love and making food, and all that compliments it, an art/religion.

What is truly mind blowing is much of the team, the sommelier and our server, the bartender, etc were in their twenties and thirties and it was evident how seriously they are integrated into creating an experience that can’t be matched. I can’t imagine the heights to which they are going to elevate hospitality as they move forward.

I’ve had the privilege of eating at several Michelin star restaurants. This one is in a class of its own…

Thank you so much, if you are reading this EMP, you’re making the world a better place to eat and live in.

A special thanks to Lauren and Jordan. You’re spectacular.

Eleven Madison Park - A Unique Experience with Mixed Impressions

For our anniversary, we chose to dine at Eleven Madison Park, the iconic 3-star Michelin restaurant. The service and staff were exceptional, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. However, our experience had its ups and downs, reflecting a mix of impressions.

Booking and Arrival:
Our evening began with heavy city traffic, which delayed our arrival. We attempted to contact the restaurant to inform them, but surprisingly, customer service closes at 6 PM on Saturday evenings, leaving us unable to reach anyone. This was unexpected for a restaurant of this caliber.

The Tasting Menu:
We ordered the full tasting course, as we were excited to try their celebrated vegan menu. While we’re not vegans, we were inspired by the restaurant’s story and wanted to give it a try.
• The standout dish was the avocado with crispy bread and squash butter—it was absolutely delicious and beautifully balanced.
• The dessert was equally outstanding, offering a perfect conclusion to the meal.
• The tofu, though soft and well-prepared, lacked a distinctive or memorable flavor for our tastes.

Drinks and Service:
The cocktails from the bar were superb and expertly crafted, but there was a noticeable delay in service. One of us had to wait with an empty glass for a while, which felt slightly out of place for such a high-end experience.

Atmosphere and Staff:
The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to create a unique and memorable evening. Their dedication truly elevated the experience, even when some details fell short.

Overall Impression:
Eleven Madison Park is undoubtedly a special destination with great service, but it’s essential to approach it with the right expectations. For us, as non-vegans, the menu didn’t resonate as much as we had hoped, though we still appreciated the creativity and effort behind each dish. While our expectations may have been too high, we left with an appreciation for the staff and the overall ambiance.

Would we recommend it? If you’re a vegan or adventurous eater seeking a unique fine-dining experience, it’s worth a visit. Just be prepared for some minor hiccups along the way.

A Plant-Based Revolution at Eleven Madison Park: A Culinary Masterpiece

Dining at Eleven Madison Park is an experience that transcends the ordinary, but now, as a fully plant-based restaurant, it’s an entirely new kind of revolution. Chef Daniel Humm and his team have not only redefined what vegan cuisine can be, they’ve completely reimagined fine dining itself. In a city like New York, where innovation is the heartbeat of its culinary scene, Eleven Madison Park stands as a beacon of what is possible when creativity meets sustainability, all without sacrificing an ounce of luxury or flavor.

From the moment you step inside, you know you're about to experience something extraordinary. The airy, art-deco elegance of the space, paired with an impeccable service team, sets the tone for what is to come: a multi-sensory journey unlike any other. But this is not just about taste; it’s about a philosophy, a commitment to using the finest ingredients that honor both the planet and the palate.

Let’s talk about the food, because this is where Eleven Madison Park truly shines. Each dish is an adventure, proving that plant-based cuisine is as rich, complex, and indulgent as any traditional tasting menu. The menu isn’t just "vegan"—it’s a celebration of vegetables, grains, fruits, and herbs in their purest, most elevated forms. Take the roasted carrots, for example—what seems like a simple vegetable on paper is transformed into a delicately smoked, buttery bite that has you questioning everything you thought you knew about carrots. The layers of flavor and texture are so profound that you forget you’re even eating a root vegetable.

The use of heirloom grains, foraged greens, and carefully sourced legumes in the dishes is masterful. A bowl of fermented black beans, for instance, becomes an umami-rich, velvety masterpiece that rivals any steak or seafood dish. There’s a clear reverence for the natural world, a respect for each ingredient, and an undeniable passion for transforming humble plants into dishes that feel sophisticated, daring, and luxurious.

Eleven Madison Park takes a truly artistic approach to plating, turning each course into a visual and textural narrative. The beetroot is shaped into an elegant “sculpture” that combines sweetness, earthiness, and crunch. The “cheese” course, made entirely from cashews and plant-based cultures, doesn’t mimic dairy but rather offers its own creamy, tangy delight that challenges preconceived notions of vegan alternatives.

One of the standout moments was the "mushroom" that tasted uncannily like truffle but was sourced locally, showcasing not only the chef’s genius in flavor manipulation but also his commitment to sustainability. The menu is a masterclass in making the familiar unfamiliar, inviting you to reconsider everything you thought you knew about plant-based food.

The beverage pairings are just as inventive, with non-alcoholic options that elevate the dishes to new heights. A fermented apple soda paired with a delicate fennel dish was an unexpected but perfect match, showcasing the restaurant’s keen sense of balance between food and drink.

If you're expecting a "vegan version" of fine dining, you’re in for a revelation. Eleven Madison Park has obliterated the boundaries between plant-based and fine dining. This isn’t just vegan food for vegans—it’s the future of haute cuisine, and it’s here, now, in a space where every bite is designed to delight and inspire.

The experience feels thoughtful, intentional, and, above all, indulgent. Yes, it's a splurge. Yes, it's a special occasion kind of experience. But at Eleven Madison Park, every dollar feels well-spent—on an unforgettable exploration of flavor, sustainability, and the endless possibilities of plant-based dining.

We had a wonderful evening that was simply amazing from the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left it. The employees seemed very motivated from the entrance to the hall, everyone always had a smile for the other person or took time for a casual conversation. The service staff was very attentive and was available to answer any questions or concerns at any time, within seconds and without assessing what was being asked. The various courses were prepared with a lot of love and attention to detail and were able to delight us both aromatically and culinary-wise. When we wanted to say goodbye after 5 courses, we were surprised by two more courses. The two sweet desserts were terrific and the drink at the end rounded off our evening perfectly. At the end we were able to receive a small present, which we were very happy about! Our conclusion: it was an unforgettable and magical experience that was worth every cent of it. Next time we'll come on the weekend when Daniel Humm is also there so we can say thank you in "Schwizerdütsch" for the wonderful evening. Many thanks to everyone who made this evening unforgettable for us! From the chefs and all the helping hands in the background, to the service and the employees at the entrance, you were wonderful! :)

Iconic. Deserving of all their accolades. 3 Michelin stars and phenomenal vegan food. I am not vegan and I loved every dish. Their cocktail menu is to die for, incredibly delicious. From the moment you walk in the front door to the moment you leave it’s just an experience to remember. I cannot wait to dine again for a special occasion in the future! Bravo!

Best night of our lives celebrating our life mate's birthday! The service came with jokes and fun and the wine came with grit and tenor. If you are reading this, you know who I mean. 6 stars, do recommend.
