This was the worst ice cream I've had in my life. Don't know what it's made of, but it's not cream, and not vanilla. Threw it out and just ate the cone.
For new york, prices aren't bad. Other than bottled drinks, they only had Starbucks drinks. Everyone was very nice and patient. Seating inside is slightly limited. Food is acceptable, nothing to write home about.
Worst vegan burger i’ve had in the past 8 years.
I asked for a cup of water to go with my food and the employee told me that I’d have to get a bottled water id have to pay for instead of just giving me tap water for free. They said the best they could do was giving me a cup of ice. Are we being stingy with tap water now? Also food is overpriced for what it is. I got the personal pan pizza and it is a good size but incredibly thin so not worth it. The food is very school cafeteria tier and I was confused on how to pay and I was walking to ask my partner to figure out how and the cashier lady embarrassed me in front of everyone by loudly yelling at me and making everyone around me think I stole food
For a national park spot, this was pretty solid. Prices were reasonable and the food was good. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich stood out, and the onion rings were nice and crispy.
The space had a cool vibe with art that highlights the immigrant experience, which added to the overall atmosphere. Worth a stop if you’re visiting.
I came to Ellis Island not just as a visitor, but as a descendant. My great-great-great-great-great grandfather Ezequiel passed through these very halls with nothing but hope in his pockets—and a very specific recommendation: “If you ever come back, try the café. It’s simple, but it hits the spot.”
Generations later, I found myself standing in line at that very café, heart pounding like I was about to meet an old friend. And let me tell you—Ezequiel was right. The menu isn’t flashy, but there’s something deeply satisfying about it. I got a hot pastrami sandwich and a bowl of clam chowder that warmed more than my stomach. It felt like a memory served on a tray.
Sure, it’s not a five-star restaurant, but that’s the point. It’s a slice of continuity, a reminder that even through time and tide, some things—like the comfort of a warm meal on your journey—never change.
Thanks, Ezequiel. You were right. Still is.
I love this experience I will do it again because it really inspired me to know more of the historical stuff going in there
Be careful, we discovered a fraud at the cash register. They counted more coffee than they had ordered. The reaction to their deception was inadequate, I had to wait 10 minutes for their manager, who did not even apologise, her reaction was absolutely abnormal. Money was returned but with disgruntled faces and just left without apology! BE CAREFUL.
13 usd for a Pizza! Me and my friends came here hoping for the taste of authentic American cuisine only to find a frozen cheese pizza. We sat down for some rest just to find some pigeons accompanying us. Worst experience ever, bird poo everywhere. Furthermore an employee was using a broom stick to get rid of them, in front of customers. Never felt so sick ever. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Ellis Island Café is an absolute gem. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing excellent service. They took the time to explain the menu, offer recommendations, and ensure that every aspect of my visit was enjoyable. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients and packed with flavor. The menu offered a great variety of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. I tried the [mention a standout dish], and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The portion sizes were generous, making the experience even more satisfying. The drinks were equally impressive, with a great selection of coffee, tea, and other beverages to complement the meal. The ambiance of the café was perfect, with comfortable seating, tasteful décor, and a relaxing vibe that made it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Whether you’re looking for a place to grab a quick bite, enjoy a leisurely meal, or meet up with friends, Ellis Island Café is the perfect choice. The attention to detail, from the presentation of the dishes to the overall customer experience, truly sets this place apart. It’s clear that the owners and staff take great pride in what they do, and it reflects in every aspect of the café. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is a must-visit spot. I will definitely be coming back soon to try more of their amazing menu.

The food here is a bit pricey, but it’s worth it. I had the Beast Burger, which came with an onion ring, avocado, and all the fixings—it was pretty good, not gonna lie! The wait was a bit long, but the burger made up for it. Plus, it was served on a real plate, which was a nice touch. Also, it’s cool that the café is technically in New York, but you can sit in New Jersey. Definitely a unique spot to grab a bite!
