Don’t ask for espresso unless you wanna be seriously sassed in front of the entire store. Ordered an iced latte… then I asked the woman at the register if she could add espresso to it, she literally goes “well yeah it’s a latte”. I’m sorry, has the earth spun off its axis? Since when is it unusual for someone to ask for extra espresso? There’s no way that was just a misunderstanding unless she’s entirely slow. The turning of the screen at the end to add gratuity literally sent me into a coma as it would anyone else.

While living in New York for a year, I didn't find many cafes or restaurants, but this place came to mind and I went there several times. It's great for reading or working. I wanted to drink maple latte here, so I came here for a trip down memory lane. Recommended.

I came into Elsewhere Espresso exhausted. These late nights and early mornings of writing Yelp reviews is starting to take its toll.
I came here as opposed to my normal coffee shop, as I need to get more reviews so that I can win another Yelpie. People don't want to talk about it, but a Yelpie is more difficult to get than a Grammy or an Oscar. Winning a Yelpie is war, and war is a full contact sport.
I got my iced americano, and walked out to the covered outdoor patio and locked in.
They have wifi here, which is huge because I get so annoyed when coffee shops don't have it... I mean I get it though, because when I walk into a coffee shop where all the tables are taken by people on laptops and over ear headphones I get so annoyed. The grass is always greener smh.
My americano was S tier and brought me back to life, but honestly I just get it black so how good could it be. I'm no coffee connoisseur.
While I was jamming away at my laptop, crafting a review that will make you laugh, cry, and contemplate your life in under 400 words in hopes to realize this long shot dream of back to back Yelpies, I spotted the only other girl on the patio reading "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain. My kind of people in here.
I will leave you with a quote from the late, great Kobe Bryant:
“Those times when you get up early and you work hard; those times when you stay up late and you work hard; those times when you don’t feel like working, you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself, but you do it anyway; that is actually the dream. That’s the dream. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.”

Wonderful shop that is perfect for a quick stop or to spend time in. I had an amazing London Fog and pastry!
Lowkey the best pumpkin spice latte I’ve ever had. Also loved the open doors.

the ice chai was a cup of milk with ice with a tea bag in it for 6$. shocking, saddening, disgusting. good service and a cute shop though it's just a shame i wasted my money here

The best espresso in the east village, possibly NYC. No matter the barista the quality is consistently excellent. I make it a ritual to introduce people to this coffee shop. Side note: try the tahini chocolate chip cookies, they're amazing.

Great espresso, friendly staff, really really good tahini cookies…but they need to make a greater effort to be respectful of other customers: half the time I’m here someone — not be be rude, but it is always a 20-something — whips out their phone amidst a quiet coffee shop where everyone is working or reading, and proceeds to have a pretty disruptive FaceTime conversation. WHY NOT ASK PATRONS TO TAKE IT OUTSIDE, as a gesture to polite customers. Or just hang a sign politely requesting that folks refrain from calls inside. Not much to ask really. But it will never happen, why? Afraid to offend. Don’t be such a judgemental guy! Just chill bro! More likely — afraid to lose customers, because too many younger customers are fragile. Sad but true; just read about it. Sad state of affairs that a simple act of kindness becomes a flashpoint for political divisions. But this is not a singular phenomena; it an epidemic. Just be thoughtful. Mike drop.

One of, if not the, best espresso in the East Village. I almost feel badly for people who left reviews about how good the coffee is as it feels like they missed out on the main event.
A hot latte and a bathroom, all you need!
