Incredible discovery in NYC! Leonardo at Empanada Mama was super helpful with my vegetarian requests and made the ideal choices. I am visiting from LA and was referred here by the Moxy LES—- an amazing “in the know” place for anyone visiting (or local) and open 25 hrs!
Food was good, but there was only one staff/waiter it seemed, so service was a bit sluggish during busy dinner hours.
We got charged a 20% service charge for a party of two, and also got the wrong change initially, which was frustrating (we would have tipped that anyways...). I would chalk it up to the apparent lack of staff at that time, but I was still not happy about the billing errors.

Sometimes, you can wait a bit (although I have witnessed wait times improve greatly over the years, especially if you order ahead). But the ambience is worth the wait, with great music and courtesy while you wait for your food. Much appreciated!
