The worst experience I have ever had as a customer and the most rude manager I have ever encountered, Robbie. We came for my friends birthday dinner and waited one whole hour for our table, then were promised a free round of drinks for the inconvenience. We ordered drinks because of this promise, then when the bill came we politely asked the manager to remove them, to which we were met with nothing but hostility and aggression. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will never be coming back :)

Excellent experience from start to finish. Croquettes, Gilda’s and Calamari are some of the best i’ve had in NYC. España would be proud!

Excellent, authentic Basque cuisine, great service at the bar and at the table, pleasant ambiance. Will definitely return.
had the chance to sit down at the chef's counter for a great meal last night. service was spectacular. tried most of the menu and cant recommend the counter experience more. favorites included the short rib stuffed peppers, jamon croquetas, pintxo matrimonio (!!!!), bikini hemingway, and the duck confit.

This is a typical trendy Manhattan restaurant. Charming interior, great mixed drinks, delicious food but like all Manhattan restaurants expensive. You’ll drop $100 per person if you include drinks.
That being said the food and mixed drinks were delicious so absolutely no complaints. We walked in early and had no problems getting seating but I would recommend getting a reservation if you plan to eat later. The restaurant was quickly filling up.

First of all, Sommelier was absolutely fabulous. Thank you Ernesto's for giving us a really delicious dinner! We had a great time, and we will be back.
Great food! Everything is above average. I like salty and savory flavor; but most of the dish are too salty even for me. Services is nice and friendly. All in all a great place to check out.

Ernesto's was one of the better meals I've had in a VERY long time. Their entire team made us feel right at home, with excellent but not over burdensome service. Their food is absolutely next level. If you like Basque/Tapas/Family style meals, you can't do much better than Ernesto's!
As Paul Hollywood would say : all style no substance wills be a great description of this place. It's Basque cuisine but not the Basque hospitality that I have experienced in Basque Country. Some great things : people around you paying attention to your glass of water, empty plates, your napkin left on the table which gets folded efficiently, the food delivery with a smile. Ambience was most excellent too! Ehn things ; a waitress who couldn't be bothered to check on you (perfectly okay when you flagged her down...but you had to flag her down). We were informed instantly that we had to order everything we wanted to eat at once and they would course it.( This right away tells you that the place is about getting food in you and out but nothing to do with basque hospitality. One can understand some of it because the owners do have to pay rent in NYC, but still!) Au contraire : they delivered the tortilla and octopus right away and then seconds later the crab tarts - Which btw they should tell you to eat right away because the tart shells become sad and droopy as they sit!). Other food was kinda coursed out but not really. The standouts were the octopus where the crisp peppers were as much a star as the tender octopus brightened with the sherry vinegar and the artichokes which while simple were somehow elevated with the almond sauce (reminded me of an ajo blanco). I highly recommend getting toasted bread to mop Up every bit of the almond sauce. Everything else was disappointing and we left with nothing really making us want to go back. One nice thing they did was take off the morcilla because it was the most bland morcilla I have eaten in my life! They didn't have to, but they did. Overall not impressive.
One of my favorite restaurants, although I wish they would bring back the suckling pig entrée.
Their vasque cheesecake is out of this world, it's the best one that I have tried yet.

Delicious pintxos all around, bacalao and duck confit were perfect too. Small, intimate, lively but not too loud that you can't still have a normal conversation.
