This was one of the best meals I had in New York. The wagyu and sukiyaki are nothing short of phenomenal. I honestly liked this place more than the beef places I had in Tokyo and Osaka. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys Wagyu!

Update: Chef Koichi Endo has returned to Tempura Matsui and has changed the menu to a new menu focusing on wagyu beef.The tempura part is very good. Some other parts have room for improvement, but the overall dining experience is very good.

a little disappointed in this experience, but only pertaining to the dishes. the service was 10/10, very attentive and kind. servers were super sweet in answering any questions. great experience when it comes to the service. on to the dishes, i felt that the ingredients were high quality but they were not presented in a desirable way. a5 wagyu tartare: this included the outer hard shell with various fruits, foie gras, chopped up a5 wagyu. this was by far executed terribly. i understand that the sweetness of the fruits would contrast the saltiness of the foie gras, but it was a mess. i could not taste the wagyu or feel the texture of the wagyu. all i tasted were fruits and even the foie gras flavor was not present. the cracker also overshined the wagyu. the fruits were sour and i could not call this a wagyu tartare. today special sashimi: for the price, otoro should have been replaced with chutoro. sashimi was fine, not the freshest and nothing unique. a5 wagyu in the raw: the upper right pieces with the jam was overly sweet and the jam overshadowed the two pieces of meat. i had to scrub some jam off as it overwhelmed the meat. the only thing worthy was the cream cheese on the bottom right corner, very unique. tenderloin was super overcooked and rubbery and everything else is extremely forgettable. imo, not worth the $185 price tag. the ingredients were not executed well

My husband took me here for my birthday, and although on the pricier side, we knew it would be an amazing experience. We were served the Autumn Omakase special, and each bite was crafted meticulously and beautifully, and tasted amazing. The Wagyu melted your mouth, and the final course for sukiyaki was to die for. Service was impeccable as well with the waiter folding our napkins each time we got up to use the restroom, wiping any little drops or specs of food throughout the meal, and ensuring we never had a glass running low on sake or water. This place could easily turn into a Michelin star restaurant and I hope it does because it is that good. Executive Chef Uchida and his team executed exceptionally well. I hope to come back again soon for my next special occasion.

This was my first omakase. I didn't know what to expect going in, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The ambience was very peaceful and intimate. The chef prepared everything in front of us. You could taste all the natural flavors. All the different types of fish were very fresh. There wasn't a fishy smell or taste. Each of the tempura pieces very crisp and delicious. I didn't expect to like the head of the prawn but it was surprisingly very crispy and full of umami! Of course I ate all the shishito peppers. Sometimes it's like playing roulette, but each piece in my opinion had mild spice and very fresh, like it was picked straight from a garden. My favorite dishes had to be anything that had the A5 Wagyu beef. The chef showed us the cuts of meat and you could just tell by the glistening marbling that it was going to be delicious. Of course, the meat just melted in my mouth. I'm still salivating just thinking about it. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. The waiters were very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. We came in knowing the bill was guide hefty, but I would definitely come back. This place is one of my all time favorites, definitely save this for a special occasion!

If you are hesitant on trying Esora because there are no reviews, here is my review for you. TLDR - this place is absolutely amazing, you definitely get your money's worth and the Wagyu quality is off the charts. The service is great and overall an excellent experience. Unlike most sushi omakase, you will not be hungry after this dining experience. Do not stop for a quick order of fries before this meal like I did. The staff is very attentive and assists the chef in explaining the dishes. One of the girls even brought over a little bin for my tote so I did not have to place it directly on the floor.Dinner consisted of:- Appetizer with caviar topping and uni sauce- Shabu Shabu - dashi broth with veggies and A5 wagyu and ponzu dipping sauce- 2 pieces of Wagyu Sushi, one torched, one plain- Tempura: broken up into subcourses - 1. shrimp head, 2. the rest of the shrimp with tail, 3. seasonal mushroom, 4. fish, 5. shishito pepper, 6. Tempura Wagyu wrapped with Japanese basil leaf, 7. Seasonal Sweet Corn with black truffle salt, 8. Eel, 9. Japanese Sweet Potato- Mushimono: Japanese custard with foie gras and snow crab- Wagyu steak: we upgraded to the Ozaki Beef and Kobe Beef. The Ozaki beef is much fattier whereas the Kobe beef is perfectly marbled. I would go with the Kobe (worth the upgrade price)- Rice bowl with the Wagyu steak and corn and mushrooms - Fermented rice dessert with yuzuThere is no way you can be hungry after this meal. The tempura portion was quite filling so after the wagyu steak, I could only have a bite of the rice bowl and dessert. To sum up how incredible this place is, my fiance said we cannot visit NYC without stopping by. We even considered having a small wedding in NYC just so we could have our small reception meal here.

Had a great dinner here. The wagyu was excellent and I really enjoyed the multiple preparations (tempura, sushi, seared, and in a rice bowl). Other courses were also good - the highlights for me were the tempura and egg custard.

Exceptional and masterful Chef Endo delivers an experience my guest and I have never had. This was well worth the expense and we are truly looking forward to go back. The 2.5 hour dining experience was amazingly delicious. . I would very highly recommend Esora to anyone searching for an over the top Wagyu/ Tempura feast. Just an all out marvelous evening.
