Enjoyed the small local vibe but the pasta wasn’t good and the waiters don’t have manners. The outside was trashy. The chairs and table felt broken. No common sense. Not a place I would recommend anyone going. Rough place.

Dined at this establishment Saturday evening and, regrettably, our experience was far from satisfactory. From the outset, we felt hurried despite having a reservation, as the staff seemed eager to seat us and move us along quickly.
An unexpected surprise was the two-dish minimum per person requirement, which was neither disclosed beforehand nor mentioned anywhere. We weren’t even planning to have dinner, we went more for wine selection and bites.
Our disappointment deepened when we ordered a bottle of wine listed as a 2020 vintage on the tag, only to receive a 2021 bottle without any explanation. Such substitutions without prior notice are unprofessional and misleading. When our pasta came out we asked for a few more basil leaves and waiter said that he couldn’t give us any. (Ok?)
We were asked if we wanted dessert twice and we said no, we were taken aback when the bill was placed on our table without even asking for it, we were still going to order a few drinks. We hadn’t even finished, yet the waiter seemed eager to conclude our visit. Also super icky that the waiter questioned us, asking why we didn’t add a tip on the bill, this was not only uncalled for but also disrespectful, especially since we are CASH tippers who value and respect the efforts of waitstaff.
In summary, the combination of rushed service, undisclosed policies, uncommunicated substitutions, and inappropriate comments regarding our gratuity left us with a sour impression. We had hoped for a pleasant evening but were met with a series of disappointments that overshadowed any positive aspects of the meal. There’s 100 places in the city that have friendlier staff, food and vibe.

We had high hopes for this restaurant, especially for me and my girlfriend to enjoy Italian wines and maybe a few bites. After checking the small menu, we decided to share a pasta dish alongside the bottle of wine, but we were told there was a minimum of one dish per person, in a non very comprehensive way, we then added a second dish, as no choice was given.
I selected a 2020 vintage wine, but when it arrived, the bottle was 2021. I only realized after taking a sip because the waiter never presented the bottle—he simply poured it, rushing through the process without a word really. Not exactly the kind of service you’d expect for a romantic evening. When I brought it up to another waiter, I got a simple “sorry” as a response, despite having chosen that specific year for a reason.
The pasta dishes themselves were tasty, but details mattered here too. The tomato-based pasta arrived with a single basil leaf, as a garnish more than a feat, and since both my girlfriend and I love basil, I politely asked if we could get a few more. We were basically told “no” without even checking with the kitchen—over a few extra leaves on a $22 dish..
Service continued in the same rushed manner. As soon as our plates were cleared, we were asked—twice—if we wanted dessert. I said I wanted to check the menu and enjoy my wine, finishing up the first bottle before going for a second. Yet shortly after, the waiter dropped the check on our table unprompted. I then asked about their closing time, very confused by the rushed bill.. Didn’t want to go for that second bottle anymore. I also mentioned my disappointment with the wine situation. Our waiter from that specific region just brushed it off, claiming 2020 and 2021 were “basically the same.” At least he offered us a shot of limoncello to “make it right”, which we appreciated.
What really sealed the experience was the way tipping was handled. I always tip in cash, but before I even had a chance, the waiter came back, pointing at the empty tip line on the receipt and bluntly asking, “Was something wrong with the service?” I had already voiced my concerns earlier, but this put me off completely. I ended up tipping less than I originally planned and left with a lingering bad taste—not from the food, but from an experience that got progressively worse as the night went on.
For the price point, I’ve come to expect far better in New York. The food was good, not great, but service and hospitality matter just as much, and here, they completely missed the mark. Not hard to find better places in NYC.

Food was solid. Kinda felt transported out of nyc to a small town in italy, it was cute. Prosciutto is nothing special, pastas are homey and warm.

This was the worst service I have received in a New York City restaurant. We had barely finished dinner and were still enjoying our drinks, when a waiter told us we had 3 or 4 minutes before he had to change the table. We had been there less than 1 hour and 15 minutes. A few minutes later a second waiter, came and picked up the glasses and effectively told us that we were finished.
It wasn’t worth our $240 bill; we won’t be returning.

We got the prosciutto plate appetizer, Cacio e Pepe, the truffle tagliatelle, and the gnocchi. First of all, they sat us at a plastic foldable table near the front door, in which they had to shimmy behind one of us and the end of the bar to access said bar. Free bread also came along, the focaccia was quite good. The prosciutto plate was good. The cacio e Pepe was easily the best pasta dish that night. The gnocchi was disappointing, tasting more like a flour gnocchi than a potato one, and the sauce wasn’t noteworthy. It wasn’t bad, but not terrific. The truffle tagliatelle really had no depth of flavor, and without the truffle, would be extremely bland. Seems more like a gimmick since they shave the truffle over it. Overall, I’m sure there are better Italian places in the city that would be better.

Unlimited bread, great service and atmosphere for a larger group…vegetarian-friendly (truffle pasta is best, burrata and tomato soup also good), pesto and cacio e Pepe pasta were OK, house wines were solid

The caccio e Pepe it’s very good for not being in Rome, and the truffle pasta my wife was a big fan of it. The beef Bolognese did lack flavor hence the 4 star review. The food did come out very quick and the service was great!
Came here for dinner Saturday night—they don’t do online reservations but you can call in to make one. The restaurant was packed and has a very energetic vibe. Service was great! Food was good—we got the Pici Freschi Cacio E Pepe and Tagliolini Al Pesto. The pesto pasta was not as salty as I would have liked. Both pastas were decent portions and reasonable prices. For desserts, they brought out a Tiramisu for us which was so nice! The Affogato was good too.

This pasta! Are you kidding me!!! The best environment for a dinner with friends. Everything can be plated to share and staff encouraged us to take our time and enjoy our evening. Highly recommended finishing with the affogato :)

I have eaten at and recommended this place several times in the last couple of years and have generally always enjoyed the food, except once when all our entrees were waaaaay too salty. Tonight Monday night at 8:30 pm I took my parents with my partner, because I wanted them to try some wine and deserts, which I love, and it was my dad’s birthday.
I was offered a table no reservation, restaurant was 20 perfect full and then when I told them we were going to eat dessert only They said we don’t do that, and That we needed to eat dinner as well. Then I asked if we could take dessert to go and they said no.
We just left. I wasn’t going to fight it. But felt disheartened but the service and the way the person spoke to us. Especially when the restaurant was almost empty and no where near closing time so I couldn’t think of a reason they would turn us away except they just didn’t want our business, I hope it wasn’t discriminatory reasons but I’ll never find out because unfortunately we wont be recommending this place or dining here anymore. Sucks because I love east village gems like this but not if you are going to treat your local community like that. Wawa **stop sign for visibility **
