I’ve been coming to Flor de Mayo (1977) on the upper west side, since before I could talk. The flavors hit every sensory nerve, and I’ve been hooked ever since. This is a family business, a true NYC staple, where they seamlessly fuse Chinese and Peruvian cuisine. The Pollo a la Brasa is the dish I keep coming back for—the 18-hour marinated rotisserie chicken, paired with red beans sent from heaven, yellow rice, and sweet plantains. And the kicker? What Dennis, the owner...
I had green rice with pollo sin hueso, tallarin verde with grilled chicken, green rice with lomo saltado, and pork fried rice with lomo saltado. I been here a few times. Its one of my favorite low key spot. I had super nut cracker (very strong). The owner and the staff over there are amazing and good people. Did i mention they are quick?
The waiting staff kind of rushes you. The people who serve the food seemed really nice. They play music and movies which is nice. Food was pretty decent, although It felt a little over priced. Rice we ordered was mushy. I would probably tey this place again, maybe it was an off day. But I wouldn't travel far for this. Just my opinion.
