The seafood was exquisite. The staff are all clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the ingredients and cooking process. A remarkable menu - we will definitely come back.

Big favorite! Against a backdrop of rock music, the tasting menu (which changes every week) takes us on a world tour: east coast oysters, kangaroo tartare, Japanese-style grilled fish, baba au rhum, tahini ice cream… One might think that it’s all over the place, but it actually forms an extremely coherent whole. The cuisine is modern and inspired, the service is casual but very professional. In short, Foexface Natural is one of the most exciting places at the moment. Run there so you can say you discovered it before their first Michelin star…

The food was alright, but I was quite disappointed by the service. The host that evening did not acknowledge us for almost 15 minutes after we arrived (and it's a small restaurant so there is no way we weren't seen when we entered), but our table was already cleared and there was no one waiting ahead of us. Then, other groups who entered after us were seated first. Once we were finally told that we could sit, the host left, so no one led us to our seats and we just assumed where to sit since there was only one empty table left. After this, we were still not given menus or water for another 10 minutes, and it seemed that the waiter didn't even know we were there. Although, he apologized once he finally saw us. I was excited by the concept of the menu before we arrived, but overall, it was not worth the experience, as we felt quite unwelcome at Foxface.

Foxface Natural delivers an innovative experience with its ever-changing menu for two. The inviting ambiance, coupled with the friendly staff in this signless establishment, creates a memorable dining experience that may even feature kangaroo. Highlight dishes include the West Robins Oysters & Montauk Wild Red Shrimp, Bluefin Tuna, and the unforgettable Smoked Wild Sturgeon (a big shout out to the plankton butter sauce). I'd recommend those seeking inventive cuisine.

Reservation was cancelled without any notifications, even though it still shows up on Resy. Really bad scheduling and communications. In reply to the restaurant’s comment below:1. First of all, we were 10min late, not 25 min. We were standing there while waiting for the staff to figure out the logistics and until nothing can be resolved and we walked out of door around 6pm, 30min after our reservation time. Simply ignoring the fact and blame customers is not the appropriate way to do any business.2. Second, yes we contacted and tried to reschedule. But the restaurant rudely refused and pointed us to Resy. RESY cannot reschedule and will charge $50 cancellation fee. As a result, we still travelled an hour to show up, only to find reservations were cancelled.3. Even in the case of cancellation, no proper email or phone calls are made to the customers. This is not really the way to treat your customers in the city.I understand small restaurants are very cautious of not wasting their reservations. There are lots of small and great restaurants in the city yet I’ve never encountered one who treated the customers this way. During our time standing in the restaurant, not a single apology was made and only kept telling us there was no way they can accommodate. To be fair, the review is not about food quality. For anyone wants to go, please be extra cautious about your reservations.

I think this place is a true hidden gem. The food is unique and creatively prepared, and also delicious. It was a shame we couldn’t try everything on the menu. The staff was warm and attentive - made us feel like we were a guest in their home.

Awful service, waiter at the bar was very rude, food took forever and not worth the hype or the cost.

Overall - really unique spot that I recommend! The food was the highlight. Kangaroo tartare is a must (details stood out - the homemade chips on down) and the monkfish was one of the more unique fish dishes (along with some incredibly flavorful fried sunchokes) we’ve ever had. The venison heart skewers were tasty and fun, but nothing to write home about and I’d probably skip them next time.Wine menu was solid and the glasses we had were new to us/also well priced.Service was good overall - had a mix of team members working with us and the owner (?) came by multiple times to make sure everyone was doing okay, which was a nice touch.Ambiance-wise it was so so because we were in the back and also sat in between other seatings so it was oddly empty for part of the meal, but I chalk that more up to circumstance than the restaurant itself. The check - we paid $220 for two small plates, one large plate, and 4 glasses of wine. This isn’t bad largely because the wine glasses were well priced and we didn’t eat a ton. The food is definitely on the pricier side for the dish size ($25-30 for small plates, $50+ for large) but not super expensive.

You may notice the texture in uncooked dishes like the Boston mackerel that he cured in salt and apple vinegar one night. This was a take on a sushi-bar standard, served with a very un-Japanese sweet-pepper relish spooned over a fermented-pepper purée on a plate dotted with beehive-shaped domes of ricotta. (Like the heap of salted butter that accompanies each order of sourdough bread, the ricotta is made at the restaurant.)

Wine list is incredible. Food is delicious. The only few miss on the menu for me was the foie gras donuts as they did not live up to the hype. The kangaroo was exceptional. Alaskan scallops were perfection, although staff couldn’t find out exactly where in Alaska the scallops came from when asked for a specific location. Local fluke was fantastic, had the cheeses for dessert which was also divine.

We were on time for our reservation and were the first to enter the restaurant. We were seated at our designated high top table.Though I’ve used the chairs at a high top before, the restaurant’s chairs had low backs and were highly uncomfortable for me due to my medical condition and my recent lower back surgery. I need more back support than these particular low-back chairs provide.Due to my physical discomfort and knowledge that I would be in further pain later if I were to endure a 2-hour or so dinner being seated in these uncomfortable (for me) chairs, we asked to be seated at a table with regular seats, but none were offered. With no possibility of switching tables, unfortunately the only option to spare my back any further pain was to leave, which is a shame as my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. For leaving the restaurant due to my inability to sit in pain in their highly uncomfortable chairs, the restaurant imposed a $70 cancellation charge.I wrote to the owner with an explanation of my medical condition, but instead of being met with compassion and understanding he was rude, insulted me, and changed the narrative to insinuate that my leaving was due to not liking the menu. The behavior exhibited by the owner is unprofessional and has no place in the hospitality business.

Every bite was truly the best combination of the finest cuisines. Each dish had amazing flavors, fresh ingredients, and memorable taste! The menu changes every day based on the ingredients. The owner came by to explain the inspiration behind every dish and how the ingredients are sustainably sourced. Highly recommend for adventurous eaters looking for the best homemade sourdough or unique but delicious flavors in a barnacle or kangaroo meat dish!
