This place is a classic old style NY steak house. The steaks are amazing. The side are wonderful and large enough to share with those of moderate appetite. The bar is so classic.
Very good food. Steaks were cooked exactly to our requests. Polite service. There were not many guests at the same time with us; so I cannot say whether there is noisy when the place is full
Impeccable service and delicious food! Would highly recommend Frankie and Johnnies steakhouse!
The wait staff made our night so very special. The food was absolutely ahhhhmazing. Definitely will go back.
Great service paired with great food that was served very quickly. I'd definitely return.
This is my go to steakhouse in the city. It's always a great experience. Service is great and the food always outstanding. It's a beautiful old school steakhouse. When you walk in you feel right at home. Nobody is rushing you out and you get a great ny style steakhouse experience. Also, Spiro the bartender is great and makes delicious drinks. Highly recommend it to everyone!!
We were in NYC for 4 nights & ate there twice because it's absolutely delicious! The atmosphere, the table, and the waiter were all wonderful! First night we had Chilean Sea bass with a wedge salad, French fries and it was all perfectly cooked. Tonight we had Chilean Sea bass again, pasta Bolognese, clams, oreganato, the wedge salad, and again absolutely delicious! Run don't walk to Frankie & Johnnie's! It's a fabulous restaurant!
It was a wonderful experience from start to finish! Coming back to my parents favorite restaurant was delicious and nostalgic! I highly recommend everything! The service was impeccable and the food was amazing! They also have a great whiskey menu!
Great mid-town location. Much less-hyped than Peter Luger. Very attentive service. Good wine list. Reasonable prices for Manhattan. Cooking temps spot-on. Danny and Sal were very engaging.
We eat at Frankie & Johnnie's almost every time we come to town. We usually went to the original location on 45th Street, but that doesn't exist anymore. We tried the new one on 46th Street, but it's too modern. We enjoyed the old speakeasy. So this time we tried the one on 37th Street at the former John Barrymore residence. The atmosphere was much better. It really has that old New York feel. This will be our go to from now on. The food of course is amazing as always. My wife had the filet and I had the T-Bone. Both cooked to perfection. The food and service is great at either location. I highly recommend making Frankie & Johnnie's your steakhouse in the Big Apple.

FJ has been on my Steakhouse list for a while, just have not had the opportunity to go. First time great meal that started with a perfect pour of Guinness. Wedge salad was fresh, cold and loaded with all of the toppings that should be there. Next I had a filet that was one of the best I have had in recent memory. Flavorful, perfectly cooked and zero fat or gristle. Also had the fried onions and they were great! Sizzling hot, crunchy and delicious. No room for dessert but the offerings look terrific. Great selection of bourbon and scotch. Wine list is deep although the wines by the glass offerings are a bit shallow. I'll be back!
We couldn't get reservations for Keen's steakhouse so we decided to try Frankie & Johnnies. Compared to a steakhouse like Wolfgang's, the prices here were higher and the quality was not as good. They charge $4 each for béarnaise, au poive, etc. We ordered a side of the garlic mashed potatoes which were a bit too garlicky. The asparagus which were all white except for the tips, but the hollandaise was good. The béarnaise was very good, but the au poive was almost too peppery and a bit salty. Waitstaff were attentive, but then again the restaurant was almost empty.
The service was fantastic! The food, short of the huge chunk of mozzarella that was either not fresh or what I prefer with a caprese salad, was out of this world. Their French onion was by far, the best I have ever tasted. The crab cake, mind you, I was a bit skeptics when the waiter insisted that I would not be disappointed, was again, the best damn crab cake that I ever tasted. My Amore and I shared the porterhouse for two that was perfectly cooked between the medium rare and medium that we requested. The mushrooms and onions side was a perfect complement to the steak. The wine selection was adequate, not enough medium priced bottles for my liking, but adequate all the same. I will absolutely visit F & J Steakhouse next time in town. BTW, go early, it started getting really busy around 1900. JGS
Such a wonderful experience. If anyone wants the ultimate NYC thing, this is the real deal. The food was excellent, the service was first class, and the ambiance was perfect. Prices are fair for the quality provided.
Had high expectation for this restaurant. But it was a disappointment. We ordered Salmon and (2) New York Strip Steaks. The food were very salty, and lacked of quality. We had calamari as an appetizer and that was good!
