We come here every time after we go to the vet. It’s our little tradition. The hero’s are pricey but pretty big. I eat a half and I’m full for a while. We’ve tried the chicken cutlet and fresh mozzarella hero. It’s good but be advised it’s thin sliced mozzarella not thick from the mozzarella ball. The pork and broccoli rabe is delicious too and super juicy. Highly recommend for a good sandwich.

First of all, $17 bucks for a real foot long in manhattan, it would beat so many things! They really know how to do sandwich! Many interesting but tasty combinations. I ordered turkey sandwich - it came with Cilantro, honey, pepper jack cheese. So many layers!!
The lady was also super nice to everyone! She game me a sampler and a banana just for free. Another gentlemen came to ask a random question - she also gave him a free sampler!

A really good sub with great ingredients, spoiled by a sub roll that was so dry it tasted like it was day-old. Fix the sub roll and this was a 5-star sandwich.

As I reached into my wallet to pay with $100 bill on a +$50 order the owner is blatantly looking in my wallet. He refuses to take the $100 so I give him 3 x $20s. Then he gives me over $2 in loose coins as part of my change? Not feeling the generic clip art. Not feeling the $2 in coins as change. I don't care how good the sandwiches are.
Great sandwiches! They do not skim with the fillings, they are very generous and you can get pretty full. Highly recommend!

Food was what you would expect from high school cafeteria. Bread had no texture, the chicken parmigiana was from a frozen dinner. Almost $20 for a sub that had less texture and flavor than Subway is a rip off. Would never go back.

So overpriced. Not worth $21 for a sandwich. Bland

Nice people, great sandwich
I absolutely love this place. They do it all right—I ordered a roast turkey sandwich and they pulled out a full roast turkey and carved a few pieces off for my sandwich. I love the meatball sub too. One sandwich is enough to feed an army—fantastic value!

OMG! Have walked by countless times w/o trying it. Had the pastrami and cheese w. Russian dressing and it was delicious. As others have said, huge. Two of us shared it and it was more than plenty.
Edited post-second visit.
Take my advice, you’ll thank me- get the # 4, roast pork, ham, cheese, pickle. Hold the gravy. Add mustard. These are the makings of a Cuban sandwich. Put it in a frying pan with some weight on top so the bread is crunchy and it’s nice and hot.
Because The Hungry Hero is so generous with their high-quality ingredients, we ended up with THE best Cuban sandwich we’ve had in a long time.
