Warm welcome as soon we stepped in. Order the jerk chicken with Mac cheese and greens. Delicious! The owner was so cool and friendly. Definitely returning when I’m back in the NYC.
Definitely don't go looking for any sort of ambiance because you will be disappointed ! Place needs a make over badly HOWEVER the food was very delicious. I had the oxtails, rice and peas, mac and cheese and vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised that the entree came with 3 sides. The vegetables (cabbage) was the only side that was disappointing. It tasted off and I couldn't understand how someone can mess up cabbage but other than that I really enjoyed the food....
Really wanted soul food for lunch and came across Freda’s. The gentleman who took my order was very kind and informative about the menu. I ordered a veggie plate to go which was candied yams, mac and cheese, and cabbage with carrots. First thing I tried was the Mac of which I immediately didn’t enjoy. The yams are DEFINITELY candied (good and bad thing(if ate by itself it’s very sweet but with Mac it’s alright). The cabbage had absolutely no taste. No salt no seasoning....
