I can't rate the food here because I just had drinks. The service is good. The bartender was very nice. What I liked most was the atmosphere. I happen to see this place when I was walking in Union Square Park. The space is beautiful. It's like being in a dream when you walk into this place right in the middle of a park. I think that this place is seasonal. I hope to visit it again next year. The restaurant pavilion will open again in Spring of 2023.

We had a very nice lunch on a sunny fall day at Freehold in the Park. The vibe was great and we were in the pavillion. The pizza was delicious and the drinks were excellent, particularly my old fashioneds. Service was also prompt and our meal was served timely. Great place for lunch.

I had a very pleasant experience here and it was nice that all the cocktails were the same prices. The bartenders were great and frequently checked on us. They even recommended others bars to try and those didn’t disappoint.

I usually don’t leave reviews, but the service here was so awful in many ways that I am compelled to. For awareness—we had a 6:30pm reservation, and left by 8:30pm, and they technically close at 11pm.-our server didn’t know answers to our questions about ingredients on certain items that specifically stated to ask the server for the ingredients of the day, and she seemed annoyed every time we asked-they got 1/2 of our order wrong, and made us feel bad about pointing it out and asking for the correct order-we had to ask 2-3 times for refills on water and condiments-they turned on the lights at many points during the dinner, seemingly to passive aggressively signal that they were closing early (no one told us this directly but I think because they didn’t have much patronage—unsurprisingly given our experience—they probably made the decision to do so without giving us notice. We would have happily obliged if anyone shared that with us. At one point we even asked the server what time they were closing because we were confused)-they turned up the lights and the bartender shouted at us to leave as soon as we paid, though we were clearly still finishing our drinks (and again, we hadn’t overstayed our welcome, we were there 2 hours max—slightly less by the time they sat us)-security came up to us 1 minute after the bartender yelled at us, to let us know they’re closing, to which I responded that we were finishing our drinks and needed 2 minutes and we would be gone before they were done cleaning—which most of the staff clearly still was. The security guard got argumentative with us verbally and hovered after I asked if they could let us finish our drinks in peace. I suggested that next time the sever not allow the purchase of a last round if they didn’t have time for guests to drink the drinks, to which he said it’s not their problem and we had to go regardless of the status of our unfinished drinks.-as we left I noted to our main server that while she was very kind (she brought our service animal water and a round of shots for the table), that we were disheartened by the service and the abrupt/aggressive end, to which some random guy (seemingly a shift manager? Or perhaps owner?) yelled at us and said we were weird for even patroning the restaurant and having expectations of the service given it’s partially outdoors and 60 degrees out. (The weather is really nice for an outdoor meal tonight and if that’s the restaurant’s thinking about good service, then they shouldn’t be open to reservations)Anyhow. It was a birthday dinner and while we can more easily let the bad service go, it’s harder to overlook the rudeness. Our group was looking forward to eating here and now we’re looking forward to a better restaurant that replaces it, especially given its great location.

This is a lovely spot to visit for drinks. It is not as upscale as it looked from the outside, and food was quite slow, but five stars for great wait staff and a free round of drinks to make up for our wait.

Bad food, slow service, avoid! Food took a long time to arrive, at first only my mother's Cesar's salad. It featured soggy croutons and some tiny reheated dry chicken pieces. I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for a burger that had cold bread and undercooked meat. McDonald's would have been Michelin star food in comparison. Beer and white wine was not properly cold. At $75 it was a steal - but not for the customer.

The space is cool and convenient right in Union Square however the service is very slow and the drinks are overly sweet. One other thing, don’t try to book a private event here. Very shady practices on the financial side of things. My company was set to book our summer party here for a minimum spend of $4,000. The day that the private event person sent us the quote Freehold had conveniently TRIPLED its price for the event and tried to charge us $12,000. They claimed it was a coincidence, that new pricing had just magically gone into effect the day we were about to sign, but obviously it’s a bait and switch.

Great drinks. Cool space. Delicious food and friendly staff.

Trendy spot with outdoor seating is the only reason for the stars. Most of the staff was nice but the bartender had really bad attitude, literally threw my drink on the bar (to the point that it spilled) after I waited 10 minutes at a nearly empty bar.

Went for brunch while at the farmers market. Frittata had so much of one spice that I couldn’t taste any of the other ingredients. Despite advertising coffee on their sign out front, I couldn’t order it in the restaurant and had to run to their cafe stand around the corner to buy one instead. I was seated directly in front of the DJ and the music was so loud I couldn’t carry a conversation with my girlfriend. Only time we saw our server was when they brought our food. Really wanted to like this place but left in a bad mood. Have had much better for much less.

This is one of the kind of spots you would walk by and not give a second look at, but trust...well worth the stop. Food (Friends had the pizza and loved it, we also ordered two orders of the "not not meatball" and my non-vegan friends devoured them lol) and drinks were on point! The staff had the right amount of "on it"...they were cool and helpful in the best way.I definitely will be heading back!

Very convenient and a lot of outdoor space. Extremely slow service and you order yourself directly from your phone and it still takes a million years. But a great place to meet up with friends.

Awful experience all around I wish I had something positive to say after frequenting in Brooklyn and Miami. Rude host who took forever to seat a party of 4 when the restaurant area was at 30 percent capacity tops. Wait staff took forever to notice us and take our order. Drinks were very poorly made, eventually after 30 minutes of taking our order and multiple tables having received their orders we flagged down yet another waiter - ours seemed to be purposely ignoring us we were told our order was “missing”. At this point the manager was asked for - again very unhelpful, quite rude actually. At this point our party paid for what was ordered (nothing was taken off - realized later we actually overpaid for an extra drink) and left. Awful experience can’t recommend in good faith.

No misses with this venue. We shared a yummy thin crust pie and two rounds of delicious drinks. The best thing we shared was the atmosphere and great spirited staff. A keeper in such a central NYC place!
