Frenchette Bakery is both a bakery and cafe by chefs Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson located at the Whitney Museum. At the bakery, one can pick up viennoiserie, individual pastries, baguettes, sandwiches and coffee. Or one can sit at the cafe to a meal with a fine menu that includes duck confit and rotisserie chicken. This is the second location of this fine bakery from these two chefs. Fantastic late lunch. For vegetarians, often there aren’t too many options but here it was hard to choose what to pick. The cauliflower was delicious, as was the dandelion salad. Gnocchi are outstanding. And the bread! Although desert was not strictly necessary after all that food, it’s such a treat. Highly recommend.
We ate here on a whim and were lucky enough to get a high top table. We are shocked at how good the food was, really. The bread with chicken liver mousse, the black turnip soup, the spring pea salad, the Arctic char and the gnocchi Arrabiata were all perfect. Kudos to the chefs.
