The food is delicious and they cater to food allergies. The atmosphere and service were incredible. The singing was so beautiful and entertaining. Will definitely go back.

Delighted to see they brought back one of my FAVORITES, Lobster Mac and Cheese. Generous portion so I took half home.
My companion had another one of my favorites, salmon. Attentive service and it wasn't too busy on a Tuesday evening, so we could have a conversation easily. And we got a booth (I asked for one in my reservation). So happy to have this restaurant a short half block away!

Love Friedman’s! First time at this location and it was great. Food was 10/10 and the guy working the bar made it better with his playlist he had going.
Returned to eat at Friedman’s on 31st Street for an early dinner with friends before a Madison Square Garden event. We had a great dinner, excellent service, in a comfortable booth where we were able to hold a conversation. I highly recommend this restaurant. Time and again a great place to dine.

The ambience has been destroyed by the new policy. We complained but it was explained to us that it was the owner's decision. Will never go back if they keep the new music policy. Attention to the owner- you are wrong.
5/5 all round! The food was delicious and came out promptly. The staff were really attentive and made you feel very welcome. Also checked in on allergies and gluten free food was marked. Highly recommend!!!

Stumbled on this place while walking by and decided to give it a shot. Glad I did. The space looks great, the vibe is warm, and the service started off strong. The maple bacon old fashioned was outstanding, and the salad was just as good.
The one downside was when someone on staff told us we had to give up our table because it was “reserved,” even though we were barely 45 minutes in. Completely unnecessary and it threw the whole meal off. I brought it up with the manager and he handled it quickly, which I appreciated, but it still should never have happened. A small bill credit would’ve gone a long way.
Once that was sorted out, everything fell back into place and the rest of the experience was solid. Good food, great drinks, and a place I’d definitely return to.

Food was delish as always, had the Turkey plate for lunch and was very good. Unfortunately, although very pleasant we felt a bit rushed by our waitress as cocktails, and food, (soup and entree arrived together) all came out way too fast. Will definitely return for the food.
Enjoy all of the Asian style food, specially the vegetarian options made with impossible meat. Service was prompt and delightful, kid friendly space but also good for one on one time.

I had a 5:00pm reservation at Friedman’s and made a specific request for a booth. When I arrived, the hostess immediately told me she couldn’t honor the request because the booths were being “saved” for parties of four. I accepted another table without making a fuss.
A few minutes after sitting down, I looked over and saw two guests seated comfortably in a booth. When I asked about the discrepancy, the hostess responded with a smug, condescending tone, telling me they were “just having drinks” and would “only be 40 minutes,” and that I still could not have a booth. This made absolutely no sense—especially since I mentioned that I was on a tight schedule and would not be staying long either.
At that point my wife and I chose to leave. The manager wasn’t helpful either; instead of addressing the inconsistent seating policy or the hostess’s attitude, she chose to scold me for supposedly “raising my voice.”
The photo I took shows several open booths, which makes the situation even more frustrating. Overall, an extremely poor customer service experience. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend Friedman’s on 72nd St to anyone looking for a place that respects its customers or their reservations.

We had such a great experience at Friedmans on 72nd. The food was excellent, but the thing that really stood out was the care around food allergies. Our server made a point to ask every single person at the table about allergies right at the start, and not in a rushed way. You could tell they were genuinely making sure everything would be safe. It’s rare to feel that level of attention when dining out, and it immediately put us at ease.
The food itself was fantastic. We started with the fried green tomatoes topped with sprouts and a flavorful herb sauce, and they were crispy, tangy, and super fresh-tasting. The matzo ball soup was warm and comforting, with a light, fluffy matzo ball and plenty of chicken and vegetables. We also tried one of their cocktails with a candied bacon garnish — fun, smoky, and surprisingly balanced.
For mains, the fish & chips was a standout. The batter was crisp without being greasy, and the fish tasted fresh. Fries were seasoned well and served piping hot. The turkey club sandwich was also really solid — hearty, well-stacked, and full of flavor without being heavy. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared.
The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, perfect for catching up or taking a break from the city. Service was friendly, attentive, and never rushed. And for anyone with dietary restrictions (especially gluten-free), this place is a true find. So many menu items can be made gluten-free, and they do it well — not just as an afterthought.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want a place where you can enjoy a great meal and actually feel comfortable doing it.
