It feels like an actual ramen restaurant in Japan. You quickly eat and go that’s all. The Tonkotsu was not my favorite. It lacked in flavors but too greasy for me. It’s a very busy place but despite that, service was great.
I’ve been coming to Nishida Sho-ten on 49th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue for the past 13 years, and it’s still one of my absolute favorite spots in New York City. I’ve been to a lot of ramen places over the years, but this one easily ranks in my top three. It has that cozy, comforting vibe that feels like home, and the food is consistently amazing.
The portions are generous, the flavors are rich, and the broths — whether you go with pork, chicken, or one...

The back area is a nice quiet spot for lunch and the staff are attentive and smiley. Always a pleasure!
