You know the gamey, gross taste of old meat? They specialize in that.I don’t know if it’s actually the meat or they just don’t clean their grill well. Either way, I’d pass.

Used to come here years ago. So disappointed yesterday before work myself and bf decided to have breakfast and were over charged. Ordered scrambled eggs with pineapple and coconut shavings and it came with a pita. Side of bacon and sausage. Each of the plates were over 30 dollars each.

The booths seats all had tape. The waiter seemed very shy. Overall, needs urgent improvement

Been coming to Gee Whiz for over 10 years on my visits to New York - I choose to ignore all the tourist traps in Midtown and come down here. Always a friendly welcome from the staff, the portions are generous and very keenly priced (given it is Manhattan). Only had breakfast here on a couple of occasions, the Eggs Rancheros and the omelets are amazing! It was downsized considerably a few years ago (I believe the original owner opened another establishment known as Tribeca's Kitchen on the corner of nearby Chambers and Duane Street, and sadly he passed away during COVID.

We ate here three times for breakfast. The portions are very large and the price is right. The food and coffee taste very good. I can recommend it.

i've been here several times and all in all it's a great all-american diner. it has soooooo many options (potentially too many because the sacrifice quality for quantity, but they have all day breakfast so can't complain too much). i've gotten the following things here: cheeseburger deluxe (good size, fries are always great not limp and perfectly cooked, they don't always follow the instructions for the cook for the burger but it's always juicy and tastes great, just wish they gave more manageable portions of lettuce and thinner slices of tomato but overall no complaints), chicken fingers (they were literally panko bread crumbed chicken cutlets, no real flavor and they were a strange consistency, wouldn't get again), i got split pea soup here (grainy texture and no flavor - it's the only soup option any day of the week, they make it likely in bulk and serve it all day everyday, wouldn't get again), eggplant parm (serving was literally enormous, served with a really large side of pasta, overall tasted great, eggplant had a a perfect crust from the way it was breaded, good sauce to cheese ratio, would absolutely get again), and also got a cheesecake slice here (decent, nothing special, definitely buy it in bulk and it wasn't particularly fresh but it was good if you want to something sweet to end the night). overall good can be a hit or a miss but just ask the servers they give good recommendations.Speaking of the servers, they're always very nice, consistently check in, patient, and i've never had an issue getting seated straight away. the diner itself is fairly clean, the bathroom could use some more upkeep the floor was beyond sticky, but the booths are wiped down between clients, and i haven't noticed any dirty utensils or plates. will come back :)

My son and I went to this restaurant twice, and both times we loved it. We had the Eggs Rancheros Omelet and the Feta Cheese Omelet. The food was great, including their homefries. The staff is always friendly, and there is plenty of space outdoors and indoors for seating. We plan to go back for their Benedict Burger and Gyro.

Cute diner but I am not paying $14 for a bacon egg and cheese sandwich no sides, or $24 for a burger… I swear I was here last year and it was less than half the price.

I used to go to church in the area around 2006-2012 and occasionally visited the Gee Whiz diner before or after churchThen recently I saw a piece about the diner on Pix11 NYC morning news Ben Aaron'sand decided to come down for old times sake and celebrate and support its 9/11 history and the son's. effort to keep diner going after his father Nick died during pandemicApparently Great for those young family's in Tribeca neighborhood
