I am giving this place five stars not because it will blow you away with its creative take on Italian American cuisine. It won't. But for an old fashioned Italian American New York style meal you can't ask for much more than what you'll get at Gene's. From the old New York atmosphere, to the white table cloths, to the expertly made cocktails, to the efficient service to the rarely seen anymore relish tray this place gives you a sense of what New York was like...

Best meal of my NY visit. The manicoti was perfection, silky and smooth, with a classic sauce cooked to perfection! Great atmosphere and the staff was the epitome of old world charm missing in most establishments these days. Thank you for an incredible experience!

My favorite restaurant in NYC! Always feels like home when I walk through the door. Servers have been there for years and are very friendly. The food is great. Eclectic crowd of old time regulars with some well known New Yorkers mixed in.
