They charged $4.50 for the grated parmesan we asked for to sprinkle on our eggplant parm. We should have been warned. Very surprised

The service was okay it. The calamari was really good, it was my first time trying it grilled. it’s definitely different but in a good way. And the bolognese was really good as well.

The Grilled octopus salad appetizer was amazing delicious and portions generous. (I had eaten most of it before I thought to take a photo)
Many of the specials included in various types of fish.
Once again, the waiter was indifferent and bitchy. He brought the wrong bottle of wine and when I pointed that out he told me it was the one that I ordered and uncorked it and plopped it down on our table.

I somehow misplaced my cellphone and soon became agitated, likely paranoid and a nuisance to both customers and staff. The latter took their time to finally help me locate it. My relief was immeasurable. I want to again greatly thank them for their assistance and the customers for tolerating my disagreeable behavior. Some even aided me in the search. Let me not forget to add the most important feature, the food and drink, were superb.

Such an amazing spot in NYC!
The food is absolutely incredible and everything is made in house. Everything was so fresh and the dishes were unique.
The staff is extremely friendly and attentive!
I highly recommend visiting Gennaro’s when in New York, definitely worth stopping by!

I’ve been to Italy many times, and this is still hands down the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to. Couldn’t recommend more.

I loved this place the food was amazing and the wine selection is always amazing. I’ve been coming here for years. But this time I was very disappointed, I ordered my usual stake which is the best I’ve had but this time was the worst I’ve had. The meat was tough and tasteless. The pompano fish seemed to be made at a vapor and also tasteless. The salad was the fig cheese and arugula was delish and so was my wine. For the price I paid I was very disappointed. Remember today to go out for a nice dinner is a luxury. Restaurant need to serve better quality food.

The waiters tend to rush and pressure you to pick out the menu quickly. My husband and I were looking at the wine list and the waiter was trying to push a particular wine. Too pressured and rushed. The food is delicious and next time we return we will tell the same waiter to please not rush us.

Food is unique and delicious. The portions are small for some of the plates but amazing. The music is slightly too loud for me but it’s a great background playlist.

HOSPITALITY AND CONSISTENCY!! The benchmarks for all great restaurants, even more important than the food itself. This gem of an Italian restaurant specializing in Sicilian style cooking has been doing those exact deeds since 1996. That alone should speak volumes about this establishment. The owner/chef Gennaro is passionate about his food. Being a lover of Sicilian cuisine, I was wowed by his Caponata( ever so slightly sweetened eggplant appetizer) and Sicily's Chief pasta dish... Bucatini Con Sarde....a thick walled spaghetti with fresh sardines, raisins, and wild fennel. A taste and texture sensation for the soul. My dining friend ordered a half order of a different pasta which he left the bowl so clean that the dish could have been put back on the shelf. His main course was a pounded breaded veal chop with salad on the top. The veal chop was the size of Rhode Island and was moist, flavorful and satisfyingly memorable.
Our waiter was intuitively available on a moments thought and answered all our food questions with an inviting attitude. My friend and I had not dined together for many years and our waiter seemed to pick up on that and never bothered us unless he was needed. The timing of the food was well tuned and the room had a good vibe especially for a Monday night.
It had been too many years since I had been there last, but rest assured I will be back soon. I live in Northern NJ and only wish Gennaro was in my town.
This is a true labor of love establishment. The owner cares about his food preparations and the restaurant has a welcoming, warm and alive feeling about it. You will leave with a fond memory of the dinner and hopefully in three hours you will burp and get to taste that glorious food againLOL.
