I have not been back to the city since the start of the pandemic. This would be one of my first dinners. The food, the quiet and the absolute charm of the staff always calls me back. Please reopen and if not soon, just reopen sometime

Everything was phenomenal: the flavors, the attention to detail, and the attentiveness of the waiters and waitresses. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We went to Giovanni on a Thursday night after an event at the Met. We got there at 8:30pm, and the restaurant was empty except for a group that was just leaving. Since it was just us, the noise level was acceptable! This is a pretty old fashioned, really good, Northern Italian restaurant. Everything we had was excellent, the service was excellent, etc. In spite of the restaurant being empty except for us, we did not feel rushed at all. Pretty expensive, but not bad considering the location. Hard to beat. We live on the upper west side, but my wife wants to come back here.

We found this to be a great place for lunch following a visit to the. Metropolitan Museum of Art, just a block away. Food was delicious, with a nice choice of wine and service was very attentive.

We wanted a great Valentines Day dinner and tried this place because it’s close to the Met where we had spent the day. Pre-fix prices were $90 for VDay. Appetizer, main course, desert. Wine by glass at $20+ was a on par with the overpriced menu. I don’t mind paying a high price but everything should be outstanding. Appetizers were ok - nothing special. My wife had filet medallions which she liked and I had veal which was ok but again not at $90. I have to say - having mashed potatoes on the side served from an ice cream scoop literally reduced the meal to cafeteria quality. Desert - my wife had the tiramisu. I had cheesecake. The cheesecake was about 1 1/2 inches high and tasted like a cheap supermarket brand product.

Second time dining here. Very convenient place to eat after spending day at The Met. Food portions are not large, but just enough to finish and feel satisfied and not have to ask for a take home for a portion of leftovers. Prices are a little high for the amount of food you get, but the food was plated nicely and tasted good. They did not rush our meal either which I liked very much.

A traditional Italian restaurant near the Met Museum, Neue Gallery, Madison Avenue shopping. Holiday weekend Saturday noon lunch. Reasonably priced Prix fixe only. Bland warm asparagus soup. Fine arugula salad with blue cheese, mushrooms. Good veal Marsala with mushrooms and very good calf's liver, both with an old fashioned scoop of mashed potatoes. Tiramisu wasn't ready so had a scoop of rich dark chocolate ice cream. Good wine list.

This is a congenial and welcoming small restaurant in New York's upper East side. the atmosphere is perfect for relaxed conversation and civilized dining. the dishes are classic Italian, beautifully prepared.

Spectacular menu/wine list. Biggest problem is figuring out what to order. Everything served is stellar, right down to the toast in the bread basket. All pastas are home made. All available gluten-free. Mouth watering fish, veal and seafood. A word of caution: This excellence is pricey.

The waiter was very nice and efficient. The food was excellent.

Owner appears to be very biased against anyone who does not fit the profile of his geriatric, privileged and Caucasian upper east side clientele and this attitude translates to many of his staff. Interesting that places like this exist in this day and age in NYC.
