the space is beautiful and brings a new level of lux to south street seaport. the dj during dinner service brought the vibes & it's a perfect place for a group dinner. the seafood dishes stood out IMO, just know that the plates are on the smaller side.

Fantastic addition to the Seaport area! Our large party (12 people) really enjoyed lunch today at Gitano NYC - super friendly and accommodating hosts and servers, amazing atmosphere and decor, and fantastic food. Delicious cocktails (and mocktails too!). Love how the dishes are for sharing, everything was so tasty! Recommend the tuna crudo and steak. Looking forward to returning again soon :)

Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly! We had the first seating on Sunday at 12:00p and our group included a 5yr old, 2 yr old, and 2 month old. All kids had fun!

Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible and an elevator to bathrooms.

What a beautiful place! I was in awe just walking into the place. So chic and so grand. Once we ordered our drinks and food it came out so quickly. The drinks take you back to Mexico on the beach in Tulum. The food was fresh with the most unique and authentic Mexican flavors. I also have to mention the music and vibes of the space. It’s dinner and dancing and New York needs a place like this! This is a must visit spot!

Vegetarian options: Lots of options for vegetarians.

Dietary restrictions: They will ask you at the table what you can and can not have and will accommodate accordingly.

The night was enchanting, as if I were dining at the finest restaurant in the Caribbean. The atmosphere was perfect, a true 10/10. The food was exquisite, and the service was simply exceptional. Thank you, Pedro, for your attentive care and spot-on recommendations; each one elevated the experience even further.

Would have loved to go and experience the place but they unceremoniously cancelled my reservation for a party of 12 on March 21st. We had a party bus booked and made plans to celebrate my youngest cousin who finally was turning 21. I had 5 days before recieved email that they were working on a prefixe menu for us, then I followed up to inquire on the menu and if I could reduce the number in my party and the response was so cold “ Gitano is temporarily closed” meanwhile I still see they are taking reservations for other nights that weekend. Very disappointed in how I now see they have treated others on here so poorly. I emailed back asking why and when could they rebook me if that weekend and they never responded. Horrible service horrible communication horrible first impression

Beautiful space, I can't wait for the summer for the the back doors open up to let the air in. You will def feel like you've been transported to another place that's not NYC.

The sea bass was soooo good + love that they have Mezcal.

Had a wonderful time at the new Gitano's location at Pier 17 at the Seaport. The vibe / decor was great as was the service. The standout items on the menu were the Gitano's Ceviche and Lobster Tostada. For those two things alone I'd happily return. The drinks were tasty and fun. Cant wait to come back in the warmer months and really enjoy the ambiance along the water.

Agree with the other frustrated reviews about cancelled reservations. I also had my reservation cancelled last-minute. The voicemail I received offered a 25% discount on rebooking to make up for it
and told me to call them back at the number they called from to reschedule with the discount. I’ve called that number twice now and the receptionist claims she’s never heard of the person who called me and can’t help me rebook. I’ve also left multiple messages directly with the restaurant - none have been returned.

Happy to change this review to reflect my experience at the restaurant upon successful rebooking.

My husband and I went for dinner on opening night, and it was nothing short of fabulous. The decor, service, food and cocktails were outstanding. Walking in, we felt like we had been transported to a chic Mexican Riviera beach club. The hostess (I nicknamed her Naomi as she was channeling major Naomi Campbell vibes) was so helpful and got us a great table in front of the fab DJ, as well as our server Emily (I believe that was her name) was so on top of her game. We were impressed that the manager Ral came by to check on us and to ask for feedback. Zero complaints on the food and cocktails - so well executed, perfectly made and well balanced. I cannot say enough about this amazing addition to our neighborhood. We will absolutely be coming back. Thank you for a great evening!
