Was twice at the Golden Dinner! The first time it was tasty and I thought that I had just found the best fries in NYC. The second time a couple of days ago I was genuinely disappointed by the fries.. they had no crunch.
My recommendation remains the Katsu Club Sandwich! It is well balanced and a fun twist on the classic „chicken, lettuce on bacon“ staple!
The pancakes are great and an explosion of sugar. Luckiöy you can order them in a single portion!
If you have to wait more than 45 minutes, you should try another day. It is not worth waiting longer than that!
Staff was super nice and diligent and the pancakes lived up to the hype ❤️ definitely worth the wait
Very impressed every single time
Best pancakes and avocado toast I’ve ever had. A+++
So we got there shortly after they opened (Saturday morning), and there was a line around the building. Only to realize, when we got to the front, that the line was to put us on a reservation list, which was a 3-3 1/2 hour wait. Eventually, we got notified that our table was ready. The food came out fast, and I believe the pancakes were worth the wait, though some would disagree. Our server was going through the motions; he was turning away before I responded to his question about whether we needed anything. There's only one bathroom, which prompted another line inside the restaurant, making the place feel cramped. I would come back to try their other food options, as the pancakes were so big I couldn't finish them all.
We waited for 2 hours to get a table—that’s fine. But it’s really frustrating that they only give you 10 minutes after sending the “table is ready” message. I mean, come on, who wants to hang around Chinatown for 2 hours just to not miss their turn? They should give at least 15–20 minutes.
the pancakes were delicious!
Got take away pancakes cause it was super full. Very good pancakes, the compote is the cherry on top! Very big portion and very tasty!
We went here for the pancake because we heard great things. We waited over 2 hours for a table. Unfortunately we were disappointed. I think your individual palate will determine the quality for you. We came from a state with amazing food but this may be good in comparison to other NY restaurants.
I don't know what's wrong with people who think what they serve are pancakes.
Basically its 2 pieces of undersized sponge cakes topped with butter and the sauce is ghee mixed 2 drops of maple syrup.
To top all of this wait times are 3-4 hrs or reserve at least a month in advance.
I still don't get the hype
Food was fantastic but extremely expensive. A single chicken sando will run you about $30. While it’s great, it’s not worth the price. Also, the location is beautiful but extremely noisy. Don’t expect to have an uninterrupted conversation in the outside seating with the train running every few minutes.

The pancakes are unbelievable!! The pancakes are worth all the hype. The chicken wings are super crispy. Very much a normal Korean style chicken wings
I recently visited Golden Diner for the first time to try the infamous Honey Butter Pancakes. While they weren’t bad, if these are considered the best pancakes in the city, something feels amiss. The pancakes were heavy on the butter, with not nearly enough blueberry compote, making the butter the dominant flavor. Because the pancakes were so big and fluffy, they soaked up all the syrup quickly—without it, they were quite dry and needed much more syrup than your average pancake. They could’ve been smaller, crispier, and more flavorful with less butter overall. In the end, the pancakes were just okay. I can’t say I’d go out of my way to try them again, but at least I can say I’ve crossed them off my “must-try” list. I didn’t opt to order anything else at the diner.
Such a Vibe not too bad of a wait... In my opinion it lived up to the hype!!
Fluffy pancakes were delicious. They switched my omelette with someone else’s but quickly re-fired them and offered us a free dessert for the trouble. The dessert options seemed a bit out of place for a diner. The home fries are more like tater tots or hash browns than home fries. Be prepared to get there early or wait in line to join the wait list and then get a text to come back later within 10 minutes of receiving the text to get your table.
Very good brunch spot. Definitely go early. It can get very busy
