Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant

Golden Krust is fairly consistent around the 5 boroughs. There are a few that definitely do not make the cut. If Jamaican fast food will suits you, stop at one. This one on 14th and 6th is on brand. They had a lot of the menu left at the start of the evening. The oxtails were tender, not super fatty, and delivered flavor as they should. The sizing of the portion for the money is not the best however, the staff knows how to pile it on if you are courteous and thankful.

Only reason I am giving GK 5 STARS, is because of Akeel. His Customer Service was beyond EXCEPTIONAL. I was surprised to know that he was not the GM or MGR of this Restaurant. Perhaps the owner might want to look into promoting this young man. Also Rachel was very pleasant. The prices are high in my personal opinion. No, promotions, Rewards system especially for frequent customers. A lot of talking amongst employees. In the summer NO AC, NO WATER. NOT EVEN TO WASH YOUR HANDS. But charging $30 on average for a plate of food.

If you want AUTHENTIC Jamaican food do not come here I frequent many golden Krust within the five boroughs and this one is the nastiest ever. I come fi ah soup soup nasty save your time and money

The experience at this place was wonderful this is because went with my sister and I and had two beef patties because I have never tried it. The food was wonderful and first time trying Jamaican food. The service was awesome and fast and the atmosphere can be noisy.

I work at near by mount sinai and i taught this restaurant was abandoned because i have never seen it opened, in the morning when im going home nor at night when im coming to work, but one morning 2weeks ago i had to stay over at work and from the bus i saw they were opened so i got off to try the food.....My honest review is.....
The Food was good
The portion size was good
The Food is very very expensive
The hours need to be adjusted......
Tue to Fri open at 7am
Fri AND Sat night close at 10pm.
At least for the summer.......

Disappointed is not even the word. $19 for a medium order of curry goat with rice and peas and there is barely any meat lol. My plate was loaded with bones and goat fat. Unacceptable, especially for the price. Your money will go further if you go to a Jamaican restaurant in Harlem or Flatbush. Good Hope on Flatbush Ave sells medium curry goat for about $13-$14 and will load your plate every single time. I posted pictures to compare the plates. Don’t waste your money with Golden Krust. I understand that inflation is hitting everyone, but at least put a good amount of meat in my plate for what you’re charging. Never again.

Golden Krust and Jamaican food is getting costly in general but imo Golden Krust has some of the best curry chicken. It always taste good. I wish they added potatoes because I enjoy potatoes a lot. This place had none. I added extra plantains which the lady said they give u 7 pieces exact. Idk why they be so stingy but that’s everywhere. This place needs more bar stool chairs for dinning in pr a better indoor seating area that can accommodate more people. But i enjoyed my food

Love Golden Krust and I understand that the demographics of this neighborhood plays a part in pricing. But if you want to pay an arm and a leg, eat here. There is no way I should pay 2.75 for just a can of soda. Absolutely not … this city have become to accustomed to paying for overpriced items. At that point I will pass and waste my almost 17 plus tax else where. But aside from that is the food that is prepared here is decent .
