Worst experience ever. The customer service at this restaurant is extremely rude and disrespectful. The employee working around 6:30 PM was yelling at customers and spoke in a very aggressive, unprofessional manner. They clearly do not know how to communicate properly. I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

When you are In Manhattan and you don’t want to take food from Food cart and you want halal Desi especially Pakistani food. Then Handi is the place. Don’t expect a Hi-Fi lobby or dinning room. Just a decent sitting place and may be you have to wait because sitting area is small. But the food quality is great. Every thing we tried had a very delicious desi taste. Overall great nice place to eat .

Haandi Pakistani & Bengali Restaurant is a solid spot if you’re craving authentic desi comfort food in New York. The menu has all the classics you expect and they do them really well. We tried the samosas, nihari, chicken biryani, goat chops, and beef masala—everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and felt genuinely homemade.
The samosas were crisp and fresh, the biryani was aromatic and hearty, and the chops were cooked perfectly with great spice balance. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food.
But the real highlight for us was the chai. Rich, comforting, and exactly what you want to end a meal with—honestly worth coming just for that.
Great food, authentic flavors, and a cozy vibe. Definitely a place I’d come back to again and recommend to anyone looking for good Pakistani and Bengali cuisine.

This place has no sense of cleanliness or hygiene. The food also looked stale like it was cooked the previous day or so. We walked out and NEVER EVER coming back. We didn't care that much but the food was quite overpriced for the portions. There are much better options elsewhere; we went to SARAVANAA BHAVAN (East 26th and Lexington) which is a clean and a delightful place.

I read all these comments and reviews, so I was curious but boy was I ETREMELY disappointed. It turned out to be a dirty place; extremely unhygienic and rude. Someone even found a hairball in their food which is an indication of what is going on in the kitchen. The food was clearly not fresh - when you order they just reheat what has been drying for God only knows how long. They definably jack up the spice level to hide the low-quality meat. It is best to leave it to the Bangladeshi taxi drivers to eat on a shoestring budget. You get what you paid for.

I ordered the aloo gobi with a regular naan and was shocked that it cost $13 — $11 for a very basic vegetarian dish and $2 for naan. For what it was, the price felt unreasonably high. $7-$8 sounds reasonable.

What made it worse was overhearing staff say I “expected small restaurant prices,” which came off as unprofessional and dismissive. This place is nowhere near a fine-dining level to justify charging that much for aloo gobi.

On top of that, the place looked unsanitary and dirty, which made the high pricing feel even more unjustified.

****I didn’t ask the price upfront or look at the menu board — that’s on me — but I genuinely wasn’t expecting it to be that high. Overall, disappointing experience.

I am new to this area , and I decided to try this restaurant . The woman serving could not accommodate my order of just chicken tikka sauce and naan . I ordered a mango lassi . She said we are not doing that . Then i ordered just the chicken tikka masala to dip my bread in the sauce i always order this is other indian restaurants without a problem. I didn’t have a big appetite but was craving that . She leaves my food and drink behind the counter , they were making the naan . she should have brought my food to me then bring the bread my food was not hot it was cold today ! No hot meal and she was talking in her language to two males that worked there and they were looking at me like i committed a crime . Very u comfortable , she had an attitude . I did not feel welcomed at all i felt like they were prejudiced against me for some reason. Place was not attractive looking in the inside as well . smh very rude I was in a suit dressed being polite speaking clear and calm It’s a shame . They charge me 22 dollars for something like that it’s normally 12 Do not go here

My worst delivery experience ever. Have just gotten very serious food poisoning from the food, it's the second day now and I'm still in awful abdominal pain. Reading other reviews describing terrible hygiene standards does not surprise me in the slightest. Avoid this place at all costs.

Hi, this is Vivek. I was just exploring food options in New York on Uber Eats while I’m actually in India, and I never realized the payment would go through without any OTP on my Indian card. By mistake an order got placed and I cancelled it instantly within seconds.
I kindly request if you could help with a refund for order #2FF90, as nothing was prepared. I would be really grateful for your help. 🙏

I ordered biryani from Handi and was very disappointed with the service.
Even after requesting it, they did not provide any utensils—no spoon, no fork, nothing.
For the price they charge, this is unacceptable.

Food was sent without basic essentials, which ruined the whole experience.
Please be careful when ordering from here—you may not get what you need.
