Hamdel is a one of a kind deli in a city with a million delis. I came here every morning for a breakfast sandwich, and both the food and service always brought a smile to my face. Nelly and Fernando and all of the morning crew have such a special place in my heart. Since moving away from NYC, I reminisce about Hamdel constantly. Do yourself a favor, and grab breakfast here - you will absolutely not regret it

The definitive NY deli. Only jokes are the people who disparage and insult a friggin deli. You were expecting Katz’s? Go downtown.

I found cockroaches in the meal. Please don’t go there. It’s dangerous for a stomach

Forgot how good their bagel sandwiches are. Blows everywhere other than Absolute out of the water.

This place is a joke. They are either lazy or don’t know how to read because they just decide to make whatever they want that’s not on your order and just send it on its way. Avoid this place like the plague. They will send things that they want to send you and not what you ordered.

They are the laziest deli in manhattan. They don't read the order and just decisively make up their own order and send it on its way disregarding people's allergies and aversions. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place like the plague.

I have a special place in my heart for the Hamilton Deli. As a student at Columbia, I lived around the corner from it. Always great service and some of the best priced food anywhere in the neighborhood. I’d stand in line every morning for their super cheap coffee and delicious banana bread. Evenings on campus, I’d stop by to get a hot chocolate for my then girlfriend (to whom I’m now married!). Hamilton Deli is a part of our story.
Super convenient and reliable spot right by the Columbia front gates on Amsterdam, been coming regularly for a couple weeks now and these folks never disappoint! Big fan of the all-day breakfast sandwiches especially.

A staple of the neighborhood. Admittedly, I've not bought anything besides their burgers and fries and a few of their subs so I can't attest of the convenience store items that they also sell. The burgers and fries are fine. On par with what you would find at comparable places in the area. I think they're may be better subs at Subconscious though but only slightly better. They do have a subs punch card thing where you buy 10 get the 11th free, which is nice. I didn't even think places full ran that kind of a promotion these days. The place itself feels like Columbia's version of a bodega. Minus the cats and chopped cheese but plus the gentrification.

This place is a joke. I ordered a pesto, mozzarella sandwich and French fries and this is what I received… sandwich is cold and fries are undercook. This is unacceptable:
You won’t find a better deli to get a sandwich
