[iBrowsing] for any Japanese restaurant in Manhattan that serves an ‘unagi’ entree or Donburi was particularly rarer than it’s availability overall anywhere. So, the lowered price menu on this Unagi Donburi was very satisfactory. One decent sized unagi coated with a generous amount of teriyaki sauce over a type of rice which was not a standard Japanese variety.,The restaurant is small and has several tables though very outdated and basically on average, adequate for its purpose. It’s a nice family owned business, not authentic Japanese per se, but they do a really brisk business for its location on Second Avenue. Recommended if, it’s something quick and easy for grabbing a quick fixed meal, for sushi or other deep fried selection. The tempura was not at all the same in pricier places but, palatable at best.

The Tokyo fried chicken, California roll, tempura bento box is a good value at $18.24 (tax included). They also have lunch specials for less than $15. But it may better to get takeout as Hanabi is quite small (8 tables for 2) with no real ambience.

Good lunch deals. My favorite is their Tokyo chicken. The chicken is crispy on the outside and the inside is very juicy and flavorful. The sushi and tempura are okay. I always get lunch from them when I don’t know what to get.

A very basic Japanese restaurant; the food is okay and the price is reasonable / inexpensive, but don't expect it to be very authentic.

Perfect miso soup 10/10. If you’re a fan of miso get the large, it’s the equivalent of 3+ bowls for $3.50 that’s insane.
Sesame chicken 10/10. Chicken was soft and melted in your mouth. Breading was light and crisp
Rice was cooked perfectly, very fluffy
Sushi was great
