Everything was great but if you are not sure how pronounce the name of the meal in German.. just ask for it in English, otherwise you may not get exactly what you wanted.

The Heidelberg was everything I would expect. The food (the pork shank) was delicious, the beer was great, and the atmosphere was incredible. It can get a bit loud and hard to hear, but with the food and drinks, it is a small minor detail.

Great almost 100 year restaurant in heart of Yorkville. The L beers are great always have a nice selection of german beers on tap. The potato pancakes are some of the best I've ever had.

My friend says he's been here like 4x in the last year and I can see why. The pork shank is a work of art. With its crispy skin, juicy, meaty, and fatty interior, it checks all the boxes. It was a really awesome dish to share with others. The sausages that accompanied were quite tasty dipped in their house mustards. I also greatly enjoyed their cabbage and kraut. We also ordered the Jager schnitzel with perfectly cooked spatzle on the side. I'm not the biggest fan of cream sauces but the schnitzel was tasty and the saptzle well seasoned. Cozy restaurant with solid service and a great place to share meat with friends!

This restaurant is located in the Upper East Side of New York, and when you open the door you feel like Germany. Most of the food was delicious and it was a place where you could have fun and spend time drinking German beer. Should I call it German-style pork cutlet? There was a refreshing salad on top, but the fried food didn't feel overwhelming at all. It was a place that made me want to visit again. We recommend stopping by before or after visiting a museum/art gallery.

Never had German food in the States before so this was an interesting experience. Came here as a party for two for late lunch on a weekend without a reservation but was able to get a table very easily. Unfortunately, if you had arrived 15 minutes later you may have to wait a bit. In general, the service is pretty slow, it takes around 30 minutes after you order to get your food. - Wiener Schnitzel - Kind of surprised they served this although I guess if you have to serve any German dish it would be this. The schnitzel was pretty good, light breading with tender chicken although I wish there were a bit more flavor. The cranberry sauce helped a lot. The potatoes just tasted like diner potatoes. - Sausage Platter for One - I honestly can't taste the difference between the sausages but I liked all of them which is surprising because I usually don't like sausages. I will have to say though, the best part was the potato salad that doesn't have the normal consistency of the American ones that are more chunky. This one was more smooth but I still really appreciated it and it countered the meatiness of the sausages. Overall very solid German restaurant which I will come back for. Everything was a bit expensive and the service was a little slow but if you're looking for a different kind of experience, would recommend Heidelberg.

The last vestige of New York's old German Yorkville. 100% authentic, like something out of a Fassbinder film. And everything is delicious. The schnitzel is as good as any one can get in Berlin. Extra points for out very charming and patient waiter, Hudson B.Vegetarian options: There are a few vegetarian options, although I don't believe any are vegan. But if your group is set on coming here you don't have to leave your vegetarian friend home lol!

We had the Leberknödelsuppe and the Gurkensalat for appetizer. They were both delicious! For main course we had the Schweinebraten and the Wiener Schnitzel. The schnitzel was delicious and well-flavored. The Schweinebraten, however, was a disappointment, the sauce lacked taste. All in all good experience and we definitely are coming back

The best German food in the United States. Authentic and flavorful does not begin to describe this wonderful restaurant. Went here with my German Mother in Law who said the food was better then in Germany now! The potato pancakes are a must with apple sauce and sour cream. The homemade cheese speatzle with bacon is great. The swinerhoxen was crispy moist and delicious. Get the Paulaner 1/2 liter draft beer and you will be in heaven. Saw fondue go by and it looked great. The Jaegerschnitzel is also fantastic! A must visit with very friendly staff.
