Loved the comic book theme of this place. The person serving me at the counter was kind and courteous and answered my many ridiculous questions with a smile. I ordered the Double Cheese Burger w/ Bacon which was delicious. Maybe could have ordered the Triple because the burger was somewhat small imho. The bacon pieces really worked well on this sandwich. Not strips of bacon but lots of big pieces of bacon. The Stoney sauce was interesting too. Ordered a falafel egg too, which really is a scotch egg but came with hummus type sauce. Enjoyable place to eat in the Essex market.

The “Sando Calrissani” fried chicken bun is amazing! The pickles we’re peculiarly great and the hibiscus cooler is a very recommended cold beverage they serve:)

I had the sando before but it was to go and it traveled almost an hour before we ate it. While it traveled well, I decided to hold off on a review. Having it fresh made and enjoying right inside Essex Market allowed me to fairly judge. Instant points for potato bread. The chicken was both crunchy and juicy. The pickles, the cabbage, and the sauce all compliment each other and make for a great sandwich. Their burger just might be the unsung hero (pun intended) here. Crispy edges pickles and sauce. Simple, effective, and efficient. It satisfies any burger craving you may have. Add to that a friendly and personable staff and you got yourself a winning experience. Definitely go try them out. ENJOY!!!

Up....setting. What I thought was going to be an experience for the pallete and senses turned out to be sub par at best in my opinion. No caped burgers and fries of justice. Just meh. I ordered the proud Mary boldly with no bacon. I like the aioli and toasted bread. The chicken, pickle and cheese, was average. The hibiscus cooler had zero lift off and my company's kahuna did not survive the first wave. The fries were unfriendly villains. Similar to potato stix from the corner store. As if he didn't get any worse, an Essex Street worker decided WHILE I'M EATING to wipe down the table with his spray saying "My bad. I didn't get your food." I was livid. The service was okay but I won't be back anytime soon for $36 of more villainy than heroics. Overpriced and underachieving.

Huge fan of this spot. I've had several of their sandwiches- all really good. If I were to pick my FAVE I think I'd go with the Face Off. They really have mastered fried chicken. Juicy on the inside with great crunch on the outside. Love a good spicy chicken sandwich with blue cheese sauce!!!

A small gem in Essex Market. I first tried them at the Williamsburg Smorgasburg and it was super delicious with amazingly crispy chicken sandwiches that aren't too greasy but are super flavorful. I recently found out they have a spot at Essex Market so I was super excited. The employees are nice and chill and the food is reasonably priced as well for the portion they give. Super delicious and I recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty, cheap fried chicken sandwich!

The most amazing burger. I love it better than shake shake.

Brussel sprout sandwich was delicious.

Not as good as it's hyped up to be. Their large size is like a medium elsewhere. Not worth the price nor the money $$.

Maybe better to not hype up the experience so much that when try you are disappointed. They talk about how everything is made from scratch both on web and when chatted them up as my order was completed. Ordering ahead was fairly easy as put in order and paid when got there. Food looked good as burger seem to extend to edge of bun which is a peeve of mine when end up with extra bun at the end. I first ate the fries as hate non hot fries and skinny fries cool quickly. There fries are much better than shake shakes but I always considers the crinkle fries one of the weakness of that chains. The burger was a bit of a mess which is not a bad thing until mess was caused by the Stoney sauce on burger. Everyone has personal taste but the flavor was not for me. It could have been the sauce but the meat which they hype comes from Essex shambles did not seem to have any additional flavor. I did finish food and if in Essex market will give there chicken sandwich a try and update my review. Last thing is wish had Mexican coke as though canned coke is fine there are many people like me that prefer taste of the Mexican refresco.

I would highly recommend Heros & Villains to anyone. Such a great atmosphere and friendly staff. After going through the reviews I bought Lil Susie Burger, and it was so awesome, it is now my favorite dish. Staff is incredibly welcoming and will certainly help you with anything. Heros & Villains...Period.
