My wife and I made a late afternoon reservation for Hoexter's Thanksgiving prix fixe and we were very impressed! All staff members were welcoming and efficient. The cocktails were on point and the courses were excellent from appetizer to dessert. We are definitely planning to return for another meal, this time with our friends and family!
Bar can get very noisy but the atmosphere is very clubby and warm. Still want to know who is who in the mural.
Lovely greeting by the hostess who showed tus to our banquet. The waiter was kind and efficient as were his assistants. The food is diverse and delicious and the vibe is fantastic.Recommend highly
Food was good but service was not. We were seated for 30 minutes before our order was taken, despite two requests to our waitress. We had similar trouble getting her attention for the check. Skipped dessert and coffee because of the wait/lack of attention.
Wonderful evening. A little too loud for a group of 7 to really chat, but still a great night with delicious food and exceptional service,
terrible service. waited 5 minutes for water had to ask to get s waiter to take our drink order AND our dinner order. service slow. food and energy were great though.
Delightful addition to upper eastside restaurant selection. Creative menu with creative twists. Love Hoexters.
The food was amazing, but it took an usually long time to arrive. The staff apologized by bringing us out a dessert on the house, which was very kind, but we were already pretty unhappy to be there and especially to be kept longer by the wait because the ambiance was almost unbearable. There was music playing while everyone tried to yell over each other, it was wayyy too loud. Also the walls were covered in dust where we were seated in the back room and cold air was blasting on us despite it being about 40 degrees outside. I had to keep my scarf and jacket on for the entirety of the meal. Safe to say we will not be back even though the food was really good, it was just too unpleasant to sit in the restaurant unfortunately!
I love visiting Hoexters. The food is delicious, and the staff are so friendly. Its a small but fun neighbourhood restaurant. I had the blackend sea bass, amazing. And my friend had delicious baby back ribs. You must try the cornbread. Its like dessett!
We were schocked as supposed Open Table VIPs to be shoved into a tiny crowded table where we could barely move our arms, not even inside the restaurant but in their front bar room. We were never told we would be forced to eat in the bar room as we ONLY wanted to eat in the actual restaurant. The food was good and so was the service but otherwise we would have walked out. NEVER have been put at a table in a bar when we had made a reservation. This is also fraudulent as the site does NOT at all state clearly that this could happen and we would NEVER book a table to sit at a bar and not in the actual restaurant.

The host seated us about 15 minutes late, which was a little uncomfortable b/c there was really nowhere to stand as the bar was also packed with people eating dinner. The service was totally fine, but the fool was beyond unhealthy. Things arrived deep fried that had no mention of it on the menu, it was sort of bizarre.
I never leave written reviews but it was quite noticeable how the server preferred the other guests to us. she was constantly asking the other people around us how they were doing, if they needed anything, went up to those tables multiple times - there was a clear preference for other guests and it felt like it was related to race as other people she was catering to were white. Meanwhile she barely came to our table to ask us how we were doing; the only time she came to us was to serve us our food and then give us our check. We had to waive her down to place a drink order or ask for sauce. There was a stark difference in how we were treated compared to the other guests. It's sad and disappointing because I've been living on the upper east side for several years now and have never been treated this way. I hope others don't get the same unfair treatment.
Had a great time and meal at Hoexters. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and engaging and the food is great.
The smash burger was amazing. My dirty martini left little to be desired. They told me they used a different kind of olives, which gave the dirty martini, very strange flavor and one which I couldn't drink. But they happily accepted the returned drink. The restaurant is beautiful, the vibe is very cool and it was overall a great dining experience. I would definitely go back.
Restaurant was uncomfortably warm that we literally had to fan our menus to cool down. Food came out way too quick. They served our mains two minutes after we were served our bread.
